Dual Exhaust on Sedan

I have been on the search for a Motordyne VQ exhaust for a while with no luck, therefore I am looking into making a custom setup using the OEM HR Y-Pipe and a Universal Magnaflow Muffler. I am keeping the stock cats for now, and will be running no mufflers; I want to see what it will sound like first, then look into mufflers.

I think to really move forward with your plans you need to get detailed measurements of the 2 systems. Then get under the car with those dimensions and just play around with them to see which system fits better out of the box. I would assume you would have less modifications that way. But, any reputable muffler shop can do wonders with a torch and some piping.

Have you listened to the Tanabe Medallion? A friend of mine runs it and Marcus just bought one and I think they sound pretty good. Just a thought.

I am already ahead of you on that, I contacted ARK and am waiting to hear from them... unfortunately I live too far away to be able to test fit the system so I am trying configure it out. I will go to my muffler shop as a last resort, and possibly copy Motordyne's TDX V2 system with a couple of glass-pack Resonator for muffler to keep it narrow/thin.

I know Tony has a few harakiri systems left, but i just hate the can look, and would like to run a dual system now. I am thinking the Shockwave TDX V2 would be , just angle/rotate the resonators flat into their locations. With a price tag of $1,600 + Ship/Tax, its really expensive, since I would consider running HFC Module and ART Pipes it would make it $2,000 +. If Tony could make it happen for under $1,500 shipped I would be for it.

The ARK for the sedan is for the 2nd Gen, meaning it would be for the v36 sedan which was equipped with the HR motor compared to our DE motor. The geometry underneath is different, they don't have the evap box in the way, we have to rotate or relocate it to be able to run dual exhaust.

Yea I hear you on the can but I think with a Nismo rear lip it would flow better. Helps hide a little more.

If you're doing the ARK, I think the V35 coupe one would be a much better choice. Any coupe exhaust will bolt right up until you get right past the rear sway bar. That's when you'd have to start modifying it.

For the Motordyne TDX2, you would have to do more than just relocate the tips because the wheel well where the spare tire goes is in the way (on the coupe, the tips are more in the middle, not far out). So you would have to modify this right after the rear sway bar as well.

On either system I would need to do something past the axle, I'm wondering which system will need the least modification (only relocating the evap box.)

The ARK coupe exhaust and TDX2 will require the same amount of modification... The ARK sedan one I would forget, I think that will require you modifying the entire thing.

So then it comes down to if you want the TDX2 or ARK.

Oh, one more thing, I'm not sure if there's enough room for the helmholtz resonators without relocating/removing the evap. Probably not.

I would prefer to run a Motordyne system consisting of ART, XYZ+HFC, Resonated Mid (1in/2out), and dual Helmholtz resonators. That's my ideal system, looks like I might sell my Sedan and get a Coupe .

Buy that and have it fit on your car. The extra money you'd spend to get a coupe would probably be over $3k. You can get that modified to fit your car for probably $200 max.
