impressed with dealer on 15,000 service
I made an appointment for 15,000 mile service. I was a little surprised when the dealer said it would cost about $540.00. I did not really have time to do the maintenance myself and I did not really want to either. I still thought it was pretty high. I called another dealer near Seattle and they were only 15 dollars under my dealer. I could not believe it.
While I drove to the dealer I remembered a serious rattle coming from my rear deck. I told the service manager about it and he asked if I would drive a mechanic around to identify the rattle. I took this guy around for 20 minutes and he was able to identify the rattle. He was like really into identifying the rattle. I am glad Infiniti is hiring mechanics that posess a passion for their job.
Anyway, I pick up my car and I drive around and I notice the rattle is gone and the car drives even better than usual.
I have been on here for about 8 months and have heard of bad dealers and bad situations involving dealers. I must say the cost of Service is a little high but the use of a loaner and the quality of service is just fantastic.
My dealer recommended clear bra and I did it through them yes it cost more but I did not have to mess with it.
I am just happy with the product and the Dealer relationship.

I know 540 is a lot of money but I figure it was worth 540 just to be rid of the rattle. Now I am enjoying the G even more.
Sorry for the long post just happy to be a G35X driver

They quoted you HOW MUCH for the 15,000 mile service?I chose that smiley icon because there wasn't one that represented my eyes bulging out of my head. Most people get the 100-300 quote range. I got a free oil change and tire rotation, so they said they'd knock of 75 at my dealer. I then changed the in-cabin microfilter myself ($70 to do at the dealer- $5 cost to me, 5 min. to complete). Wow.
Wow.
Glad you like your dealer, but buddy, they are seriously ripping you off- I just don't want anyone to read this thread and mistakenly believe that anything above $200 is even marginally reasonable for the 15k service...

I have read these posts and know I paid about two hundred more than what I am used to seeing on this forum. I can't explain it but I can break it down
labor 343
parts 132
expenses 22
tax 43
total 540
I am not happy about the high price of the service but I do not have the time to maintain this neat car the way it is suppossed to be maintained. I want to baby this car so I can drive it for many years. I am not sure but maybe it is a pacific northwest thing. It is expensive up here. Sales tax sucks too.
And the rattle is gone.

Glad your rattle is gone. I had LOTS of rattles with my car and the fixed everyone of them. You might consider asking around the forum before you get serviced next time. Not to rub it in, but so you know, the dealer here only charges 199 for the 15K service. However, the dealer here in Houston offers free maintenance for 2 years so all the service up to 22K are free.
I'm extremely happy with Inifiniti and would definately consider buying another because of their service (at least in Houston). Free rental and great service is more important to me than saving 1k off of sticker, although both would be nice

True, marv. I had the best Infiniti dealer in Indy, then moved out to Vegas (which sucks for Infinitis). I'll talk you through your next maintenance if you'd like, drill-- I know you have little time, but the in-cabin was *literally* 5 minutes, and I got all of my service done in less time than it would've taken me to drive to and from my Infiniti dealer. Maybe 30-45min. total...

$540 US dollars for a 15K service is just highway robbery. That's almost the price of the 30K service where alot more labor is involved. I'm sorry to say this to the original poster, but you got the shaft so to speak even though you were happy with the service. The 15K service is not much at all in terms of things to do and is very easy to perform. Oil and filter change, air filter change, in cabin microfilter change, tire rotation, and the usual insepctions. The hardest thing is probably the in cabin filter change. Parts should have only cost you somewhere in the $70 range and the labor should have taken only about 1-2 hours max. That's why most places charge around $200 for the 15K service. Or even better, just buy the parts, do the service yourself, and pocket your hard earned cash. If you can do an oil change, you can do the other items as well.

Thanks all for the input. I will learn more about the maintenance of this car. I don't intend to do this for the thirty thousand. I figure I have about 15,000 miles to learn the basics.

One last thing. One of the things that I noticed which the dealer seems to charge an arm and a leg for is the cabin filter change. The filter runs about $35, but they charge like $120 to install. On Saturday, I installed my own filter and it took 10 min. Something you might consider doing yourself or telling the dealer not to do during any servicing. In fact, it might be wise to do it ealier if you happen to live in an area with a lot of dust or if you have allergies.
