Correct my time slip please
So today I went to my first ever 1/4 mile race at the Western Colorado Speedway (4,800'), and my times sucked. I got smoked by an SRT-4 with unknown mods (as if I was standing)
, but I was beating a stripped '92 Civic hatch (D16z6) boosted at only 6psi, consistently by .8 - 1.2 second.
Mods:
Rev-up Box
K&N
Z-tube
MD 5/16th ISO Copper Spacer
SxExCx V2 Grounding kit
HR Y-Pipe
350z Midpipe
OEM 19" Coupe Rays
Nitto Invo 225/40 & 245/40
VDC Off
Reaction: .386
60': 2.43
330': 6.785
660': 10.273
MPH: 70.49
990': 13.179
1320': 15.813
MPH 2: 89.19
BAR: 24.71
Temp: 77.9 F
Hum: 43%
CALT: 8048
Wind: 8 mph
Dir: 90 Degree (Crosswind)
what would it run with better conditions?

Density altitude was a whopping 7300'. Your corrected time is around a 14.43@97.6mph. It's about right for your mods.
More reason to buy a turbo car when living in high elevations. They're not remotely as effected by the thin air.

Thanks that's the answer I was looking for.

In reality, the only mods that were helping was the spacer and the grounding kit for the shifting. I wasn't looking for a high 13 but I wanted to make sure I was in the 14's. My track is really slow, that modded srt4 was doing high 13's.
how do you launch the car? when it hits green? do you just stomp on the gas when you see the green light?
you might want to try this next time
when you hit the stage lights hold down on the brake pedal hard and push the gas pedal down at the same time then when you see the green light take your foot off the bake pedal and floor the gas pedal at the same time you might have to practice it a few times to find the sweet spot of rpms on auto launch
you dont want to give it to much gas where you would be doing a burn out down the track you just got to practice it

Yea its the altitude man,
The only mod that changes your 1/4 mile time is the spacer but not much. The HR Y pipe made me trap a bit higher speed (1mph) so maybe a little from that
14.48 is a good time at that temp.

I figured it was the altitude, there was an n/a civic that was running high 17's against a '06 Charger r/t with intake and exhaust running low 17's
The Z-tube does help too, although not all that much. The stock tube has the baffles that are meant to lower the engine intake noise, but it does that by disrupting and slowing down the airflow. The Z-tube is more than just a noise maker. And it's wise not to look for high 13's, because you'll never get there without spending alot more money on mods.

True, just the z-tube sounds better and looks better in the bay.
that grounding kit is another one of those, arguable mods. Other then the spacer, it seems you might of shaved a little weight off with the mid pipe and wheels.
If a charger R/T is doing 17's then we know its your elevation + track. All R/T are good for high 14's stock, with almost any idiot behind the wheel. Maybe now on 22's and 500lb sound system but you get the idea.
My first time at the track was the same thing, got whooped by these 16 year olds in their SRT powered things. neons and cabiler srt4. All ran high 13's. I took all of them off the line but after that they all smoked me as i did a 14.8x bone stock with a tube. Came back the following year with a 5/16 and did another 14.8x but higher trap. I dont spin because of the AWD but i just can be fast. This year i'll throw on some HFC and hope for something lower the 14.8 but i'm going in a cooler month. I'm only at 2200' or so
