Another tire size question-- will this work?

Recently bought 4 OEM, mint condition, M35 wheels (18X8) for $200:

I'm currently running 235/55-17's on the rear and have about 1.5 inches of space between the tire and wheel well/fender. The question is: Will a 245/50-18 tire fit on the rear of an 04 sedan or will I have to roll the fender? I did all the calculations using several online wheel calculators and the diameter is about the same (235/55-17 vs. 245/50-18), the width is approx 1 inch wider.

Thanks so much in advance (you guys have been most helpful in the past).
Isa

I would honestly go with a 245/45/18 if you want to get back closer to OEM sizes. 245/50/18 is a large tire and is over an 1" taller than stock.
If your car came with the 215/55/17 they are about 26.3" tall, with the 245/45/18 being about 26.6, and the 245/55/18 being 27.6 As far as rubbing, that depends on the offset of the wheels. If my memory doesn't lead me astray I believe the M35 runs higher offset wheels than the G35 (or maybe it's the M45)..Do you know the offsets?

Those 17's are a tad too big (3.3% larger than stock), but shouldn't cause a problem. A 245/50-18, OTOH, is definitely too big (5% larger than stock), and will probably cause issues with the VDC. A 245/45-18 is pretty much perfect (I run that size), and the tire selection is outstanding. Everyone makes that size. A 245/50 has a limited selection besides being too big. And you won't have to roll the fenders unless you drop the car and push everything outward.

That's a fantastic deal on those wheels.
