For those DRL's.....which bulb in the headlight is on

Hey.

Was just wondering which bulb in the headlight is supposed to be on during the daytime.
Is it the HID (d2r) or the (high beam?) H4 bulb.

Is there a way that we can switch that from the HID to the H4 as I would like to change that out to match the HID during the day (the oem H4 is yellow in color and when the high beams are on the headlights have 2 different colors in them.

thanks.

the high bean H4 is on as the DRL at half intensity.

you can switch out the H4 for a color matched bulb, or a bulb with higher K rating.

Hmmm mine's different than yours.
When starting my car, I turn the keys to the position where the instrument cluster lights up; the HID's turn on. (the parking lights, H4 are off and the HIDs are the only light that turn on)

Now when I move the light switch, next to the steering wheel, to the first position the side marker and rear lights (half intensity) , license plate lights and the orange indicator lights in the headlight turn on (like in the pic above)

There is no change in lights when I move the light switch to the furthest position.

My H4 only comes on when I flick the headlight switch to high beam and even at that time they are on full intensity.

I want my H4 on like yours at half intensity too

The dealership here installed the DRL module so I thought it would be the same for every G but its clearly not.
Did they mess it up some how?

What happens when you turn your light switch to the off position?

A stock DRL will have H4 high beam at half intensity then.

At off position, HID is the only thing that is on, the (D2R bulb).

If you see the picture thats what it looks like and the H4 is off.

oh ok thanks.

The problem with having the HID on all the time is that at night time I've driven off without turning on the lights and by forgetting to do so that I risk getting rear ended as cars behind me cant see me.

At half H4 lights at least ill notice the lack of brightness and turn on the lights via the headlight switch.

Do you have an auto setting? I just leave it on that.

yeah. the auto kicks in automatically at night.

If you look at the air vents right under your windshield, there are 2 circles on each side. The passenger side circle is the light sensor. It turns all your lights on when it senses its night time.

for me, I put a couple layers of electrical tape over it so my lights are on 24/7 on auto setting.

just checked and I don't have the auto option.

It think it comes as an add-on on the G and my car doesn't have it.
I saw the passenger side windshield and there's no circle there.
got one on the driver side though.

Start aT page 36 and go from there.

dRL is the high beam at half power except when parking brake is on. If your HIDs are on, something is screwed up somewhere

K so since there is something wrong the dealership should cover their workmanship correct?

They installed the drl module (cost me $400 ) and I know for sure the HID's were the lights that come on after that module was installed.
