2 general questions for you g35 sedan owners...

I found one car that is good priced but high miles and needs tires, so my questions are:
1)how much does a set of 4 tires run on a 2005 g35 that's loaded with the sports package, nav, spoiler etc?
2)how many miles do these cars usually last and please don't sugar coat things since this will be a lot of money for me to spend on a car. both of my cars I have driven for 10 years have always been paid off and no loans involved

17" wheels can run anywhere depending on $100/tire to $300/tire. 18" wheels are more expensive, $175 tire and up. There's a wide range of prices when it comes to tires, so it's hard to come up with a solid number.

I recently put tires on my '06 last fall. 17" wheels, mount balance and alignment ran me about $700 for some mid-level tires.

How long it lasts depends on how well it's maintained. Vie had mine 5 years, 90k miles....still starts up and gets me tp work. My cars paid off...and I plan on keeping it for several more years. I anticipate it should still run well for a while to come.

Plenty of guys are well into the 100k mile range. In fact, there is a thread detailing who has the most miles.

If well maintained, 200k+ should be expected.

This. I'm at 105k and all I really need are some new spark plugs and winter tires

do these cars last as long as lexus' do? Because I kid you not, when i'm on some of these used car sales lots, i see tons of these lexus cars for sale with 250-300k on them that are running great. I'm not exageratting either. I have seen probably 5 of them on lots with those miles

The motor is in question here, you say its a 2005 sports package, does it have the manual tyranny? If it does the you need to look into the oil consumption that comes with the rev-up motor. Has the engine been replaced of it consumes oil. There's a sticky in the G-spot section of the forum, it describes the problem.

In a word, no. But that's splitting hairs. Lexus and Acura are pretty much the top brands for reliability, followed closely by Toyota, Honda, and Infiniti. But it all comes down to how well it's maintained. Any of these brands should get you 200K, but Infiniti will be the most fun to get there because the rest are all FWD and don't have anywhere near the power (outside of maybe 2 models). Lexus and Toyota feel very numb when you drive them, and Honda just doesn't have anything worth considering outside of an Accord Coupe. The closest models to a G are probably the Acura TL AWD and the Lexus GS 350 AWD. Both put out about 300HP, but they don't have anywhere near the same driving experience. They're definitely more of a luxury car, with softer suspensions, numb steering, and virtually no road noise. Great cars, but kinda boring.

EDIT: The Lexus GS is RWD or FWD, but still boring compared to a G.

Tires: Really depends on what kind of tires you're looking for. If you want more performance/racing tires, you'll be paying more..especially with thicker or larger tires etc. If you're looking more for a daily driver kind of tire, prices could be slightly lower, but can still vary depending on the brand, thickness and size of tire. It would be best to do some research, with the weather conditions you live in, in mind.

Lifespan: What everyone else said. As long as your maintenance is up to date, and you treat your car well, Infinitis tend to last for quite sometime. This forum is also a great place to do some digging...don't always believe what the dealership says, look it up here and make your own decisions on whether you should do it or not...if you need help, i'm sure theres a thread that will answer your questions or ppl you can ask...my '05 coupe is at 81k right now and still running fine...every time i bring the car into the dealership they are always surprised on how good of a condition its in.

I would not touch any used car unless I can see the maintanance receipts and schedules because that indicates whether the car is kept well or not. A clean car from the owner, not the used car dealer, tends to indicate the car is maintaned well. If the car is dirty, don't bother with it!

I'm at 160k and have had no issues. Changed the belts and plugs a while back. I do all service myself. Oil change every 10K with Mobil 1 and drain and fill tranny every 30k. Car runs like new. Just need to top off the oil a couple times between changes.
