I've tried it before. Get on it in a curve and the rear will start to push out but then the front wheels kinda "kick" in and get things under control.

Don't get me wrong, it's doing what I want to do, but the AWD kinda puts a limit to how much fun i can really have with VDC off. After that point, i just leave it alone.

I have another car for that sort of fun. 2nd gear powerslides is always a great time in my Mustang

 

The G does have surprisingly good balance when you get it sideways

 

Long wheelbase cars usually are easy to control when it gets sideways.

Do it in a short wheelbase car and you really need sharp reflexes

 

No need to pull timing or fuel when you have a 'throttle by wire' setup, the ECU just closes the throttle down a bit.
Anyway, there is no reason cutting fuel or retarding the timing will damage the engine. If you reduce the fuel mixture (cause it to run lean), then you could do damage.

I would assume the VDC gives up when the steering inputs exceed the VDC's ability comply with the requests.

Also like I said its sort of idea for auto-x because you dont get VCD interfering but you keep your ABS. By pulling the fuse you disable the whole module. Again this is just based off of experienced. When I'm playing around in that situation I'm not usually in a position to intentionally lock my brakes lol

if you dont how and for what the VDC is for please dont post, half of you cant even put the V, the D, the C in the right order....

 

But everybody in this thread spelled VDC correctly so far.. Except AutoDesigns latest post. But he spelled it correctly on the previous pages...

NFSP, were you engaging ABS a lot? The stock system is very sensitive and easy to corrupt. It doesn't like lots of turning while ABS is engaged or lots of ABS in general. Upsetting the system could result in a slip light with VDC set to off.

I've been autoxing in two inches of standing water and had VDC kick in when it was turned off. That's just about the only time it's noticeably kicked in when off. I don't believe a slip light illuminated.

 

The weather was drizzle, it was a very technical track.... and I'm an aggressive driver.... so Yeeeeaaaah, I was having abs engage a lot

 

That was probably it then. No need to worry about lots of sliding and such but lots of ABS can be dangerous at race tracks. AutoX shouldn't be a safety problem but it won't be good for your times.
