My front bumper looks like crap. I'd be embarrassed to post pics.

My car is a daily driver, not a garage queen. I drive 20K miles a year...90% highway. I spend most of my time at 60-80MPH, so my front bumper looks sandblasted.

If i keep this car for another few years, i'll prob do a repaint. I'd go with a better quality aftermarket paint. The nissan paint is just very soft.

The paint on top of both of my side view mirrors are faded. I wash my G weekly and apply Megs NXT 2.0 paint sealant three times a year. My G glows just like Blue Dream's G.

For me I will just have the side view mirrors repainted and have the black mounting plates painted LS just like Marcus did.

BTW, my wife's Acura TL paint is far superior to my G. It's applied thicker, unlike the G paint that feels very thin. When I knock on the TL's panels with one of my fingers it feels strong and deep. Knocking on the G panels feel tinny, thin and weak.

However the paint fading underneath the clear coat is rather odd. If you have access to a paint thickness gauge do a couple reading around the area and post em up. But yeah, paint all comes down to care and SIP is a pretty strong compound. I'd maybe back off a little and try a less aggressive polish. And also, what color is you paint?
Thanks for the info. Mine is serengeti sand I think. The thing I like about SIP is that it works as a one step on this color (even with an orange pad) but I've got the less aggressive Menzeran polishes I'll try next time.

lol a lot of guys in here describing paint depth have no idea what the **** they're talking about.

take it to a shop and get them to meter the paint, car could have been vandalized with the previous owner and been repainted by a shop that cut a corner.

how much is this going to cost? I would love a new paint job but cant justify spending 50% of the price of the car on it

My paint looks great here and I have an 03. I think the hood has been repainted, and I'm sure the front bumper probably has at some point (at least it looks too good to be original paint IMO). I got the car at 53k miles so I'm not totally sure about what happened prior. But I never had any problems at all with fading or clear coat coming off.

I have a 2005 Serengeti Sand sedan and the roof and tops of side view mirrors are fading bad. Starting to look like crap when you really take a close look. The hood, trunk and rest of the car look good though. I've had it for 2yrs and usually wax my cars at least twice a year but it was probably already too late in this case. The Florida sun had already taken its toll. Maybe I can just get the roof and mirrors done. I don't think I'll keep the car long enough for me to justify the cost a good full repaint.
