Snow Tires - Blizzaks vs Continental
#16
Nokian WR G2's. Forget the Blizzaks or Conti's, the Nokians are better than both. Winter compound throughout the entire tread depth, not just half way like those other two. I've driven on them for years in real winters and have never been even remotely slowed down. It's the only snow tire I'll ever drive on, no matter what vehicle I own. You won't find them on Tirerack, but you should be able to find them locally. http://www.nokiantires.com/

Looking toward Upstate NY winter and driving to ski country, I got a package about a month and a half ago from tirerack - Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 235/45/18 and OZ Envy 18x8 wheels w/ tpms sensors installed. I haven't put them on yet so can't comment on performance but am pretty impressed with the look. First purchase from tirerack (or any online tires for that matter) and was pretty impressed with the service. They shipped out the same day I ordered them and arrived in 2 days ground shipping. One of the center caps got cracked in shipping and they sent a new one the next day (got it again 2 days later). Just got my $50 AMEX giftcard in the mail yesterday. I actually went with the Dunlops just because they had an additional rebate going for another $40 off or something. All the main brands performance winter tires seemed to have pretty high review ratings. I'm leaning towards the Conti DW when I replace my all-seasons next spring.

225/55-17. They also come in the stock 215/55-17 but they didn't have that size in stock when I bought mine, so I went with the slightly bigger size. The stock size would have been about $700 for 4 installed (mine were more).
http://www.nokiantires.com/ has a link to find a local dealer. I got mine at Tire Factory.
