Snow Tires - Blizzaks vs Continental
Snow Tires - Blizzaks vs Continental
I'm getting ready to order my snow tires, and looking at tirerack.com I'm seeing that Blizzaks and Continental ExtremeWinter Contacts are an $8 difference. I can't decide which to get...
So, which one do you think is better?

I have Blizzak W50's on the wife's '05 Max. They are great in the winter. Stay away from the W-60's. The review's say they are not as good. The W-70's are supposed to be good.
I have the Conti ExtremeWinter Contacs on my G35X. This car was unstoppable last winter unless I used the brakes. Loved motoring around minivans stuk on hills in the snow.
Either tire will make you giggle when it snows.

I've heard good things about both, but tend to often hear Blizzaks are bullet proof. If you want an honest, informed opinion, I suggest you call TireRack directly. I've ordered thousands of dollars of equipment from them, and almost always call to get educated even when I know what I'm going to buy. Their sales people on the phone are impressively knowledgeable about their products, and pretty honest from what I can tell.
For what it's worth, I have the following setups for snow tires in my car and my girlfriends TSX:
G35x: Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3
TSX: Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2
I'm unstoppable on the PA3 with all wheel drive, and it easily handles 100+ mph when the roads are dry. The PA2, in my experience, is just as good a tire. Since we're talking performance cars here, they're worth considering because these tires, while expensive, are much better options for dry performance than either of the other two you listed. The Blizzak is better on ice.
I live in New England and get plenty of bad storms all winter. But the roads are also relatively clear a lot of the time, and I want to enjoy my performance car when that's the case.
Good luck. Would love to hear your feedback once you make a decision and drive on them for a while, especially if you get the Blizzak or Continental.

Yeah I'll definitely post my review on what I get. I'll probably call tire rack, that sounds like a great idea to get some unbiased feedback. I guess I'm not quite looking for performance or dry use, I'm driving in Fargo and it's pretty much snowy all the time.
It looks like in general the Blizzaks win. If dry performance is not critical the WS70 is the way to go (literally!). If it does not come in your size, drop to the WS60.
I think I'll go with the W50s for blizzaks. I'm hearing mixed review on the W60s. But this is all very good feedback guys.
*EDIT: meant if I go with blizzaks, I'd go with the W50's. Still undecided so far.

Well I wanna go around town at home and see if anyone has them in stock. I'd rather not pay and deal with shipping if I can avoid it, and hopefully one of the shops will price match
