Question with Viper Alarm?..
Hey everyone, I just picked up an 03 sedan, and it has an aftermarket viper alarm/remote start installed. However, I am not a fan of aftermarket alarms and would like to just remove, or program a new OEM remote to work with the car. Problem is I tried programing a spare OEM remote to the car last night, and I get the hazards to flash but when I pull out the key and then try the remote it doesn't work. Any ideas? do I need to uninstall the viper to allow the OEM remote to work? Anyone know how to uninstall a viper? thanks in advance!

It should work as long as the viper alarm is unarmed. Better yet put the viper alarm in valet mode. I have a viper alarm/RS and this is what I do when I have work done at the dealer and I only give them the OEM remote. It will work without being in valet mode though as long as the viper alarm is unarmed.
There is a starter kill relay that gets wired inline with the ignition/start wire from the ignition switch. To do this the factory wire is actually cut and the relay wired inbetween. When the viper alarm is armed or the remote start feature is active (ie engine running by remote start) this relay is open and prevents you from being able to start the engine. If you decide to remove the viper alarm you will have to splice the factory ignition/start wire back together.

There is a wire that goes from the viper alarm to the factory alarm. It is used to cancel the factory alarm. This may be your issue, locate the viper brain under the dash. Then on the back it should have a wiring diagram , look for the wire pin that says factory disarm. If that wire is connected , disconnect it and see if that fixes your issue.
