Knock knock knocking while turning or accelerating

Hi guys.

My '06 G35X is experiencing what sounds like a cyclical knocking when accelerating at about half throttle or anything more, but only from a dead stop (so when it's in AWD) . This also happens while taking sharp turns at low speeds like 15-30 MPH.

It is coming from the front end. The sound is a very dull knock knock knock or thud thud thud.

I looked at the axle boots, they look great. I also jacked up each side in front and tried the 12 and 6 o'clock wiggle test and I get no play whatsoever.

The car has 73K.

What is this? Wheel bearing? Axle shaft? Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like CV joints to me also but if the boots are truly intact that means all the grease is in them and no contaminents or water got in they shouldn't be bad especially at 73k miles.

I just changed out the passenger side inner CV boot on my X yesterday becasue it just started slinging grease. I have 80k miles on my 04 and no knocking what so ever.

the half shafts are really easy to remove if you have to get a new one and change it yourself. I think they are around $500 but the dealer supposedly charges $1,400 for the job. Hopefully that was for replacing both sides I'm not sure.

Found the issue. It was a stick (more like a log actually) that was jammed in the rear suspension. By the time I found it, it had destroyed the CV boot on the rear axle.

I replaced the axle this past weekend with one from NAPA, and it's all good again!

Thanks for your help guys.

Car has driven about 500 miles since I replaced that rear axle without any issues.
