Sound coming from left hand side of the car while idling
In the past 4 months I have changed my rear hub and bearings, entire brake set and pads (OEM), front lower arm and drive belts.
A few days ago I had to reinstall my stock muffler to pass the yearly inspection. After it passed I had my HKS muffler put back on.
Since it was put on, I noticed the exhaust was a bit louder - I've had this issue before and it was the gasket between the mid-pipe and HKS muffler that had to be replaced. So I will replace it soon.
However, a new issue has arisen with my car. I've noticed that when on "D" gear and idling, a strange rubbing sorta groaning sound comes from anywhere under my seat to the muffler. This occurs on the left hand side of the car. The sound is similar to when you was your car with a pressure hose and wash the wheels + brakes. After washing when you drive the car and press the brakes, it makes a sort of rubbing/groaning sound as the brakes are wet.
Now this same sounds happens 50% of the time when I am in "D" gear and idling (e.g. at traffic lights) with my foot on the brake. When I shift to "N" and release the brake the sounds stops but begins within 4-5 seconds.
I also noticed today that when driving over a big speed bump (I live in a construction area and the speed bump is about 1.5ft high and made out of sand as it is covering a water pipe) at about less than 20kmph I heard the sound.
Could something be wrong with my suspension or transmission or maybe the muffler is just loose?
My car has 140000 kms but always been serviced at Nissan. I have never missed a service and never ever track my car.
Thanks!
Clint
