About a month ago (November 22) my 2004 Infiniti g35x sedan showed an exhaust engine code of P0430 (cat... bank 2)... I had the dealer reset the Service Engine Soon light that evening.. how long does it take for the light to show up again, if at all... I read that you might as well reset it to see if the light comes back on... and if it does, chances are pretty good you have a legitimate problem... To date, the SES light has not come back on... Is it determined by number of engine starts you make... the number of miles you put on your car? None of the above... Any hard and fast rule to this issue? Thanks.

 

If it hasn't come back on by now you're good to go. If there was a problem, the light would have come back in a day or three if you drive it every day.

 

I am kind of wondering the same thing. Mine came on, and me being busy, I never took it to see what the code was. I probably drove it around 100 miles with it on and it eventually went off. My dad told me it was probably the gas cap and that after a certain amount of miles, it goes away, even with me tightening the gas cap. Who knows though?

 

Listen to your Dad. He knows.
