Need to replace front CV boot

Dudes,

Got a couple questions about replacing the front CV boot on my 05 G35x.

1. What size socket is required to remove the front axle nut? 32mm?
2. What is the proper way to repack the cv joint and reattach the boot with the include clamps?

Thanks all

I'd buy a new axle and save the mess for another time. I think the front is 32mm, that's what the rears are. If you are lowered, expect to replace the axle again or raise the car.

Ugh it is lowered... I guess I will search for a replacement axle. I assume the factory boot can't handle the additional articulation of a lowered car?

Try to look at your front axles while the car is parked, they will look like this: 0\_/0

You could always not replace the boot if the CV joint isn't grinding yet.

Mine isn't grinding but, around the front right passenger side it is leaking along the axle. I am currently on zsprings. Does this have an affect on all g35x's that are lowered no matter the height?

Getting the axle out isn't that hard. Once you remove it from the knuckle, you can pop it out of the differential very easily.

Here's my DIY for a wheel bearing replacement, but it should help in figuring out how to get the axle out

You'll need a CV boot band tool to crimp the band on. You can rent these from AZ.
