Long time lurker, first time poster, with a bunch of problems :(

Hello everybody, I've been reading these forums for awhile but this is my first post.

I bought a 2004 G35X with 77,000 miles in november and it's been nothing but a headache for me. I don't blame the car but I believe I got it from a sheisty dealer.

I'm from lansing MI and I purchased it from a dealer in cleveland OH. During the trip back to my house me and my friend who came with me to drive my Thunderbird home took turns driving it on the highway and when we pulled into a rest area outside of Toledo I noticed the front right tire was flat (I was in my thunderbird at the time). My friend claimed he didn't notice it which I find hard to believe (we were going 70 on the highway...) and when I finaly got it home and to the mechanic I discovered that rim was bent and the struts and stabilizer bar for that side need to be replaced. Now, this problem is bad but is probably my fault (or my friends) and not the cars or dealer fault. I have this under control as I just need to save up money to pay the mechanic to fix (and get a new rim from ebay).

Some of the things I've already replaced:
*New tires as the others were almost bald and were more than likely the reason for the flat tire
*Replaced oil cooler O-ring since it was leaking
*New windshield washer pump
*New battery

My radio also does not work and the driver seat will not recline, and the passenger seat will not tilt forwards. The left rear wheel bearing is also going bad and needs to be replaced.

In relation to the passenger seat problem before I knew it would not tilt back forwards I reclined it backwards almost all the way and when I did so the airbag warning light came on in the dash. I was assuming the car disabled it because I think the airbag would be harmful to a person reclined all the way back in the front seat like that. Is that the case or is it just another problem that showed up coincidentally?

The main reason I made this post though is that today while driving to work after my lunch break I tried to roll down my passenger window while smoking a cigarette (I roll down the passenger because then it pulls the smoke away from me and I don't smell as much like cigarettes at work) and it was frozen shut. The window didn't move but I could hear the motor working and then I heard a loud popping noise. I was only trying to roll the window down like 2 inches so I didn't have my hand on the switch for long. Nothing happened at first but a couple minutes later I hit a bump in the road and the window fell down into the door most of the way and seemed to be balanced on something because it would rock forwards and backwards slightly. I called a window repair specialist and he recomended I get it fixed at the dealership and said it might run me between 300-400 dollars. One thing I've learned from reading these forums is to never go to the dealership unless you have money to burn so I called an import car specialist in the area and I'm going to drop it off there tomorow morning before I go to work and see what they say. What I was wondering is if anybody else has had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

I searched the forums for "Window Problems" and in the first 5 pages of results I didn't find anything similar so I'm sorry if this is a repeat question.

I seriously enjoy driving this car so I don't regret my purchase I'm just thinking maybe I should have gotten a different G35X. I look forward to participating in the forums and maybe even help some others out. I don't know much about mechanical stuff but I love car audio (thats why I bought the car even though the CD player was broken as I'm going to drop my deck, amps, and subs into the car from my thunderbird as soon as everything else is fixed) and might be able to help others in that respect.

1. Welcome.

2. I feel bad for you because you have a LOT of problems, sounds like they didn't take care of the car.

Now for info, did you even test drive this car at all? How could you not notice some of these issues. If you were closer to me i would of been able to take care of most of your problems.

You seats might have a jam or need a new/clean the old motor.

Your window problem is cake work, It just got unbolted from the regulator, doesn't take long to repair if you clip isn't broken. Most window problems means the motor is dead but your motor works.

Radios well they just go, at any time really. Replacement OEM radios are on ebay, many people take this time to go JDM double din and put in a aftermarket radio. It might cost you the same amount either way.

The suspension, wheel, rim sounds like someone HIT the curb really hard. All that damage on one side isn't caused by wear or tear, its from hitting something HARD. Like someone trying to drift into the snow and went straight into a curb. I did that on my old car, cost me a rim, and control arm.

^This is spot on. Clean your motors on your seat and see if that frees them up. Window is easy. Wheel bearings are easy. Rent tools from autozone and go to town. You certainly found yourself a fixer upper. I hope you didn't pay much.

Hi from Kzoo.

The dealer you bought it from should have given you at least a 3 month warranty. That should be standard in any used car. How much was the car?

Hey thanks for all the replies.

to answer some questions:
I did test drive it before I bought it and I noticed the radio not working and the noise coming from the wheel bearing. I never intended to use the stock radio so I didn't see that as a problem at the time. My friend that came with me knows alot more about cars than I do but he mistakenly diagnosed the wheel bearing as rubbing brakes (the front brakes were brand new less than 5 miles on them when I got it).

I never tried the windshield washer so I missed that and the oil that was leaking from the cooler kept collecting in the engine splash gaurd thing underneath the car so it wasn't forming any puddles for me to see.

I'm pretty sure the suspension and rim got damaged after I bought it on the road home when the tire went flat because it squeaks now and didn't during the test drive. The roads in cleveland are garbage so I'm sure I would have heard it there lol.

The dealer I bought it from wasn't an infinity dealer but a random used car lot in the middle of the ghetto run by some guys who had heavy Russian accents. All my friends told me to beware because of that but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and not let stereotypes get in the way. Needless to say they didn't offer any warranty.

Now for the big question: I paid $9,200 for it. How badly did I get ripped off? There was 1 cigarette burn in the interior but it is hidden and the exterior is absolutely perfect.

Oh and the window thing was only $10 the shop just popped it back onto whatever it was attached to before. They said it would have been free but they pushed back some other cars they were going to work on so they could help me out during my lunch break without me leaving the car there.

from my understanding if u only paid 9.2K then it's not bad.. It only has 77K miles.. hell i bought my car brand new in 07 and i got 66K miles on it now. If those are the only problems then u didn't get robbed, but i will say u prolly end up spending another 3 grand to get everything fixed. That include, bearings, alignment, transmission flush, finding that oil leak, diff fluid changed and everything else u have bought already. I wish u the best with it bro

i still dont believe that tire caused it. But i wont argue with you. $9200, is eh. not sweet not bent over.

All things aside everything is a cheap fix. Just find a fair shop to handle your repairs or DIY.

Dont blame the pump right away, often times washer fluid lines come off the nozzles, See if you can hear the pump go on when you pull the stalk.

yea, I don't think a flat tire caused that problem. I don't see how it would

theres a possibility that it was driven up to 50 miles on the highway with the flat thats the only reason I was thinking it could have caused that damage. I already replaced the washer pump I read the thread on this site about the cable getting pinched up by the battery and I checked that when I replaced the battery and bought the pump from amazon for like 15 dollars. The oil cooler ring was 7.95 out the door at the nissan dealership. I got the alignment for free when I got new tires at Discount Tire so I got lucky with that one $400 out the door. I also got 2 sets of 5000K headlights from DDM tuning. The second set was because the first one had a dud in it, $30 with shipping both times.

He needs a front i think.

Its a little more pricey for the fronts because he is a AWD. Please do post up how much parts do cost, and what they charge you to press them together. I dont think you can buy them already pressed from nissan, you should be able to buy both units and have the dealership press it together.
