5at pops out of gear

hey guys,

i have a feeling that this has been covered but i cant find it. but my when i pull my car into gear it gives me too much resistance going into D (pause). then once in a while when i brake if my hand is on the shifter it will pop into nuetral. not all the time but ive had the car about 5 days and its happened maybe 4 times. and one time without me touching it at all is there a fix for this?

i havent had a chance to pull the shifter boot off to check it, but i wasnt sure if this was something common. didnt see a FAQ for it.

Thanks Antoine

Not sure bout the hard time going into d. The trans slips into neutral from drive because you are pushing it when you brake. It is so if you throttle gets stuck you can shift into neutral and coast to a stop.

no its not like im pushing it, it pops out a lil too easy hard to explain. ill have to take it apart and see if something is down there. ive driven many autos and yes its easy to slide up into nuetral but this just slips up with no effort.

dont put your hand on the shifter when you brake?

Other then that you can make sure that shift inner lock thing is working, like get it out of park without stepping on the brakes.

But if you take it anyone thats all they will tell you, stop driving with your hand on the shifter.

When i had the M35 as a loaner, it would always slide into MM mode from D during turns if i had my hand on it.

seems when i remove my foot off the gas. not sure if thats holding it in. I know that when i was driving a manual it did move or seem to not have as much pressure on it when i let off the gas. not sure if that matters

Thiers a positive detent in shifter linkage (internal to transmission, visible when VB removed) to prevent shift **** from popping out. I would check the shift linkage adjustment. It may not be fully engaging properly.

Your hand on the shifter is irrelevant. Thats a throw back to early manual transmissions without stops or gates on shifter, would cause premature wear by preloading shift forks.
