^The puddle lights feature shouldnt be that complicated, there are the courtesy lights already at the bottom of the door that you could splice into.

The courtesy lights at the door don't operate the same though I don't think, but I should check into that perhaps I'm wrong!! If they run with the Dome/Map that'd work great!

I need to check if the switch is completely disconnected from the output wires when in "neutral", otherwise I may have a problem with powering in reverse while connected to the switch. Also need to see if there's a fancy switching relay I can get or something to save me some wiring and components....hm....

Signals were a write off IMO. Way too noticable when turned off for my liking. Just didn't like it at all and wasn't ready to drill holes in the housing to make it look nice.

I'm actually goign to try integraing some tiny red SMD's in the shape of an arrow under the mirror between the mirror and defrost board. Not sure if it'll fly though I"m not going to try too hard TBH cause I don't really care if I have signals.

here's more pics though at your request of my quick stick on test:

A little OT, but have to share this before the HOW-TO thread

A little update on progress of my JDM mirrors:

Warning, Picture Whoring function enabled. Large Hi Res Whoring going down momentarily.

My New Folding Mirror Puddle Lights, thanks to Cjandura on Maxima.Org for the idea of using Household LED's designed for track lighting, etc. He was thinking of using these for reverse lights. I found a crazy spot for them

Resistor'd and wired, 27 Ohms to dim this bad boy down some!!!

Now, installed:

Epoxy:

And finally, the output:

WAIT for it.........

That's dimmed down to about 2/3 of standard output or maybe less. It's effing awesome.

That is all for now I'll update this when I test signal integration, which I'm going to attempt.

One Mirror done, ready for wiring

Just waiting on my relays.

I tried a few options for Signal integration but decided not to put them in, I wasn't too fussy about the setups. If the mirror wasn't tinted so much I'd have done the LED's under the mirror face that I made, as seen below:

Puddle light done:

Base and motors assembled, Heated mirror hooked up, wires run:

Testing the functions:

Installed:

Nah just installed not wired right now. I'm waiting on relays. After more checking the wiring turned out to be slightly more complex than I wanted. But I want them to work like OEM or better, and be just as reliable and safe. So thusly, I have to wait for the proper components.

I already have my wiring diagram drawn up about 90% for sure and all component and harness connections figured out.
I doubt posting the diagram would appeal to anyone

I still have to do the Right side mirror.

I'm going to post a couple output pics tonight, the actual placement of the Puddle light looked good but when installed it aims slightly forward, opposite of what I wanted but we will see how it turns out!

BTW, the mirrors look scratched but it's just some of the white butyl that I didn't wipe off B4 the pictures.

Mirror folded, light on

Mirror OUT, light on

3 things.

1. The LED light doesn't look like an LED. This is the first LED I've ever seen COMPLETELY capture the essence of a high quality Halogen light. I kind of dislike it, but it'll do

2. It's much better when folded out, which is an application it won't be in when in it's primary use, when getting IN the car.

3. Relating to above, it would be hella cool if I rigged the fold function to the Unlock, then the light would come on, and the mirror would fold out as you go to enter the car. This has me going back to my idea of having it function automatically on LOCK/UNLOCK.

Thanks Chris, they're coming along. Waiting on my fancy relays sucks

Oh well I have lots of other things to play with in the meantime And I still need to do the right mirror.
