Because now he is going to have a quarter panel full of filler, worry that the paint will fade correctly without painting the whole car, and hope the rear alignment will be back to normal.

our rear suspension is the easiest to repair.

The entire cross member hangs on 4 bolts. Even if it was (cross member) damaged during the accident I bet you 100% that those 4 bolts did not move an inch. Cross member is aluminum so it always goes first and it's easy to replace to get your car back to correct specs.
Body panel would probably need to be cut off and new one welded in place.

They ordered the parts yesterday... takes few days for that, so I'm thinking in 1.5-2 weeks from now.

The stock jack is awesome! It's small, light, and faster than almost any other jack out there. You just have to learn how to use it.

Since his insurance is taking care of it, it's going to be a cut and weld job. Where would the filler come in here?

Panel was cut out and completely replaced. Peeled back rear door trim and could see the new spot welds. Same goes for inside trunk lip/edge. They did a great job.
