Jerks/shakes 3 times when accelerating from a stand still & P0335 pending code

My car jerks/shakes (feels like someone is shaking the car from outside) 3 times when I accelerate from a stand still. After that the acceleration works perfectly fine...

Also, it stalls when I try to climb a hill from stand still. Took me 3 tries to get up a hill (when I was at a stand still at the bottom)

I got a P0335 (Crankshaft sensor) error code which I erased but it hasn't return yet.

Was wondering if these are common symptoms for that code?

Anyone have a similar problem with that silly crankshaft sensor? Funny, because you would think a sensor with the word 'crank' in it would be related to cranking aka starting the car, but I have an issue with acceleration.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE:

Replaced the CRANKshaft position sensor (not to be confused with camshaft) with 3 other working ones and the problem still persists!

I keep on getting P0335 and the car accelerates like crap when moving from a stand still.

Also the rev needle dances up and down. Mechanic said it might have to do with a rusty flywheel which can cause the sensor to pick up an incorrect reading. He is going to try cleaning it to see if that solves the problem.

If not then we are stumped.

UPDATE # 2:

The jerk I mentioned is a LOSS of power. The RPMs dance around and the power loss causes the car to shake and struggle to accelerate.

Already ruled out: Bad gas (filled up again but problem still persists) & MAF (unplugged it and the car got worse and it threw the MAF code, replugged it and back to original problem)

Also, now I don't get any codes and the VDC/Slip lights do not come on.

NOTE: This is happening to my car after a motor swap. My old engine died and replaced it with one that had 30k miles on it. All other problems seem to have been resolved except for this acceleration issue. Can it be that the timing chain in the new motor is damaged?

reason why its a CRANKshaft sensor is because it measures how fast the CRANKSHAFT in your engine block is spinning. It doesn't care about your cranking(turning the car over) thats just the starter.

I have a P0335 fault as well, car died out on me a couple of times. WOrking ok now but i'll be replacing the sensor shortly.

FSM says check sensor and wireharness first.

I'm having a somewhat similar problem.
Car sputters going during 1st and 2nd gear, no stalling problems though.
and having a SIGNIFICANT loss of power. Acceleration is awful.
Had a problem similar to this and took it to the Stealership less than a year ago and they replaced the clutch, which would have been about 15k miles ago, so I don't think that's it again.

I had an issue similar to this from a bent flyplate(driveplate) during a transmission install.

I replaced the sensor multiple times - to no avail. I had to replace the driveplate(flexplate)

My car is doing this.

I replaced the crank sensor. Same issue. jerks, shaking upon acceleration. Popped the P0335 code again.

Could it be the cam sensors going? Is there another sensor?

One of two things are happening here. One- when the motor swap was completed the flywheel was not installed properly(there is a line up pin,but can still be installed in different positions if not paying attention),or two-the flywheel is broken or cracked around the eight bolts that attach it to the crankshaft which can allow it to slip into different positions.

Well...for me, there was a motor swap done maybe 45k miles ago by the previous owner.

I'm at 85k now, and just started experiencing this. I'll go ahead and replace the cam sensors (only $75), but i think you maybe right. Perhaps the flywheel is bit hoarked.

What's odd is that it only does this SOMETIMES. Other times, no issues.

This car is driving me nuts! Very dangerous to not be able to accelerate when you need to!
