Exhaust rattle under acceleration

Hey guys, anyone experiencing any exhaust rattle after the coupe midpipe install a couple of months later. It only happens when I accelerate hard (about 50% throttle) at around 2000 - 2500 rpm I hear a metal to metal rattle then goes away after 2500 rpm. I can also duplicate it when I'm parked. It sounds like its coming from the Y pipe heat shield but not sure. So anyone else experiencing this? What was the fix?

Thanks in advance.

i have a rattle at stand still but that was my heat shield cuz it came loose/bolts fell out. but if you can, try and get underneath the car and make sure everything is tightened up with your coupe middy and check your heat shield as well.

I already went under the car and all heat shields are tight. I tried shaking all shields when the car is off and nothing. It only happens under acceleration...

anyone know any tricks to figure this out.??

I had the same problem. I went to my friends Meineke. He couldn't find it either. So he put his helper in the car raised the lift and had him rev it up a few times till he found where it was coming from.

So what was the problem? What did you end up replacing?

The bolts that hold the heat shield had rusted and some broke off. He used some metal hose clamps as a temporary fix. Lasted a few days then the rattle came back little by little. So now I have to decide if I'm going to buy new fasteners or just rip the heat shield off

Its normal for the hardware to rust and break. But it is also normal to replace said hardware

I ripped some of my heat shields off and clamped some.. its been fine for a year or 2. The heatshields have 2 layers, so if the 2 layers rust and seperate, the outside one that you see could seem tight, but the inside one might be loose and rattling around

I have not had any issues and removed a good portion of mine on both sides of the exhaust header and y pipe over a year ago.

edit: if you can clamp it with a huge ss hose clamp, I would try that first, but eventually they will be too crappy anyways... i havent had any issues with removing them - a clamp did get me by for a year or so though.

I have it too, noticed when i switched to the G coupe mid pipe, louder with HFC, and still heard it when removed heat shields and switched to the HR y pipe. I am going to try a entire new exhaust from the HFC back. M2 ypipe with Megan exhaust
