I have a black 04 that I removed the lettering about a year ago. The letters are still very faintly visible, mainly when it is dusty. I have used some mild compound and it is still there. Very faint.

Yeah anyone who says they can't see it at all is full of it lolz. Unless the car was garage kept its whole life.

Wetsanding is about the only way to blend it once the paint has gotten a notable fade to it. And for most the residual imprint is hard to even spot regardless. But when you do catch a glimpse of it, it is bothersome (IMO)

Paint was and is pretty shiny. I don't see a different color as much as just an outline.

I debadged mine and can't see any letters whatsoever... Just use some rubbing compound on it after and buff it out real good. It was gone the day I debadged it.

Anyone had some extra "gunk" around the letters? I was inspecting mine today, was going to debadge but around the first I and N there is some extra gunk around the letters...not sure how exactly I should take it off, or if I can just proceed as normal and it will be fine? I can get a pic.

I think some rubbing alcohol/Goo gone will clear that gunk up. Then just a light buff to get rid of the rest of the ghosting, if any

Anyone else have an opinion on the gunk? I'd like to have a second (if not more) opinion, I plan on attempting to debadge in a couple days.

Possible that someone debadged and rebadged before?

I dont think itll be a problem when your debadging. Just use plenty of goo-gone and youll be fine
