how to remove paint from tail lights?

I got a fix it ticket today for my turn signals.being too dim. My tails are painted GTR style wirh reduced obsidian black paint and cleared. What option does my body guy have as far as paint removal?. Im only removing the paint in side the turn signal outline not on the whole tail light. Paint stripper is too harsh for the lenses, maybe gasoline? Some sort of wetsanding?

Stop by home depot and pick up a small can of goof-off and a roll of paper towels...wipes right off

You can definitely wet sand them if nothing else works. Then just clear and wet sand again, use rubbing compound and they'll look like new.

Is the paint painted over the parts that illuminate?

If its actual automotive paint they were shot with you only option to not mess up the lights will be to wet sand them. Tape off the area you dont want sanded and start with some 400 grit. Once you get thru the clear go up to 800 then finish off with 1000. untape and sand the rest of light with 1000 then have them reclear. They may have to do some spot shooting of the black though

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's gonna cost me a pretty penny to have em recleared and/if touched up

Did you try putting some bright LEDs on your turn signals instead of regular bulbs?
