Brake Warning Light came on

My car has about 3100 miles on it and today about 5 times while braking, the red brake light came on. On my navi it said it was because the brake fluid is low?

should that happen with only 3100 miles on the car?

am i in any immediate danger?

thanks

Don't mess around with this. Proceed straight to the dealer. Low brake fluid can become a problem very quickly, especially if there is a leak somewhere. How low does the fluid appear under the hood?

***This is only my OPINION***

My G35 Coupe w/Brembos just started doing the same thing today.
Everytime I hit the Brakes hard the light came on and I got the warning via the Navi system.

I looked at the brake fluid level and it was on "MIN", on the low side but still adequite.

I did not elect to add fluid for the reason below:

My opinion is that it is time for a new set of pads. When the pads wear so much it takes more fluid to push the caliper pistons because they need to travel in farther.

I did not add more fluid because when I change the pads out it will make the brake fluid level raise again.

I hope this helps.

I would add some fluid and drive it to the dealer to get it checked out. Don't worry about the extra fluid as your going to lose some after they bleed the brakes.

That's a good point. The low fluid level will be rectified by new pads. If new fluid is added then new pads are mounted, the excess will make a hell of a mess draining out.

The 'Min' level isn't down much and certaily not critical, but I wouldn't mess around. Go to the dealer and have it checked. Your fluid level could be down due to leakage too, if the brake pads aren't low. Better to be safe than sorry.

BTW- once the level is about down to the level that it will activate the dash warning light, the fluid sensor will bounce and cause the light to fo on and off during driving etc.
That may be why the light does not stay on (yet).

Dealer time and be very careful until you get there.
