03 g35 oil leak!
03 g35 oil leak!
Hey guys! I'm a newbie here...also just got my G35 but noticed a little oil leak... I washed the area and a couple of hours after it began leaking again (2 drips of oil) but I want to fix it... I think its coming from the main gasket... so my question is... will an oil sealer do the trick? what would you recommend? Thanks and reply away family!
If the gasket is leaking it is best to replace the gasket and not patch it with an oil sealer. Fix it right the first time.

Thanks man! My mechanic also told me it could be the type of oil used (may be too thin for the mileage) 5W20 mobil1 synthetic... My G35 has 85k in it... He suggested changing the oil first just in case... Royal Purple perhaps...
i would rather be safe.... if you find a good mechanic who can replace the gasket, you can probably do it for around 300-400(labor plus parts)....It sucks and everyone goes through it sooner or later. just do it and get it over with and be free instead of stressing over it everytime you drive.
I would run far and fast from any mechanic who blamed an oil leak on the oil.
I will most definitely do as advised by you guys! I'm just getting to know my car now... I don't want to be worrying about my engine or what could happen if I don't address the problem soon! Thanks SupG35X and the rest! Top notch help here!

Is there a reason you are running 5w-20? 5W-30 is the proper spec
^ Just get the recommended spec. Go out and buy some Castrol GTX 5W-30 and see how it goes. 5W-20 is incorrect, and you should discontinue the use of it.
If you have an oil leak from a gasket, changing the thickness of the oil will not solve the problem, though it could possibly slow it down.
If you live in a warm enough climate 5/10W40 may be used
