Why is my car slower?
So I have a 2005 G35x and after I put some mods on it got slower. It has 157k miles and the first time I tested it I got a 0-60 of 7.2 seconds. I then installed a stillen airbox with stillen Z tube and also installed a coupe midpipe. I took it out today to test it and got a time of 8.8 seconds. WTF? I don't know why. The only thing I can think of is that the first time I tested it, the temperature was like 15-20 degrees cooler. Does anyone know maybe why my car is slower with mods that are supposed to make it faster? Thanks
. But I just don't understand how I go from 7.2 to 8.8
your timing is most likely flawed.
The road would matter as well. As roads are not always FLAT. Maybe on torque its a little better then a stopwatch but still not good enough for me. Least on the "torque" app, it measures exact time it takes between 0mph to get to 60mph. VS you hitting a button on the phone twice. A 1/4 mile track doesn't measure your 0-60 tho...

It was the same road both times. I timed it using an android app. It connects to a dongle the you plug into the car and it measure anything from 0-60 to oil temperature. I have not tuned it for the mods yet. Do you think that will help?
a tune would be a waste for the amount of mods you currently have.
best suggestion for you is if you car that much about gains, go to the track and just compare slips everytime you add something.

I'm really a noob to this forum but I was told on some show, you have to wait 200-300 miles in order to have an affect....I could be completely wrong but its possible to take some time.
A tune would be the best thing for him. Just syncing the throttle will make a huge difference...
The guy who started this thread and posted first is a good friend and had his almost bone stock G35 dyno'd and look how it turned out

Fuel no, you would need to reprogram the ecu (ahem tuning once again) to take advantage of the higher octane. It should adjust to the mods to the best of its ability within a few days, but keep in mind the stock ecu can only do so much. Most of the guys who say a tune is worthless etc etc etc the stock ecu is fine it self learns blah blah blah are keyboard racers who've never been on a dyno, much less tuned a car themselves and seen how they react to changes

i would not trust a android app for performance figures.. its just not reliable, even if you can plug it into the car.. take it to the track on a cool night and try running the 1/4 mile and it will give you accurate times and speeds
