Sounds like your ballast went bad. You might want to swap ballasts from side to side to see if that's the issue, but if it is you can usually find them on ebay for under $100. My dealer wanted over $500 for a new one bastards.
Here's one for less than $60 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/INFINITI-Xen...aa5ab2&vxp=mtr

The ballast runs the HID, which is your main headlights (top one).
HID stands for High Intensity Discharge
This type of bulb actually has a high voltage arc that creates the light you see, but to acheive such a high voltage arc, you need a transformer. Not much different than what you see on your telephone/hydro poles, the big drum/cylinder unit.
This changes High Voltage to High Amperage. Well the one in your car does the opposite, it changes High Amperage to High Voltage to run the Bulb.
You didn't really need to know that, but there you are.
All you need to know, is it's a box that looks something along these lines, has 3 screws holding it, and will be mounted to your Headlight IIRC.
Junkyard is your best bet, or you can order a cheap knock-off online. If you're going to spend money and get a good one, I suggest taking the one off the other side and testing it on the side that isn't working before you invest any money.

I'm guessing to install a new ballast the easiest way is to remove the whole headlight to gain easy access or is there another way to do this or do you have a link with DIY instructions on how to replace? Thks again for all your help.

You will need to remove at least part of the inner splash guard around the wheel to access the headlight mounting. At this point, you might be able to change the ballast without removing the headlight. I haven't done one on the G yet, but I think it's possible to change it once you get the splash guard out of the way.

Yeah, ballast replacement was really not too bad. Turn the tire all the way to the inside, jack up your front end, pull plastic clips *carefully* (broke one while removing mine), remove inner fender splash guard, remove old ballast, plug and screw in new ballast, put splash guard back on, and bask in the glory of saving yourself a couple hundred dollars. I replaced mine this past fall- took about 30 minutes. If I did it again, would probably take 15. They do have some good writeups on here if you want to see some pictures.
