Rear Bumpers - Is it Just me ?

Is it just me, or do the rear bumpers on the 1st gen sedans always seem to be a slightly different color then the rest of the car? Maybe it's just my eyes, but I swear that every brilliant silver sedan I see, including mine, the rear bumper paint color is just barely off from the rest. Anyone else notice this, or have any idea why Infiniti would do that?

It's not something they do, or do on purpose at least. Even brand new cars can have the same appearance. It has to do with the difference of surfaces (metal compared to plastic).

I see. That makes sense. I didn't mean to imply that they do it on purpose, it just seems like a "regular" thing among the G's in my color. Personally, I don't mind it because I'm probably the only one that notices it - plus, it adds a little character Thanks for the info.

Yea, we get brand new cars right off the truck from Nissan and the color difference is horrible. Not to mention silver is one of the more noticeable colors when it comes to discrepancies.

^^ Agreed on all points.

Most if not all cars suffer from this. It's not something most notice though. And silver is the main colour you'll see it on, as it's IIRC the hardest colour to match.

My paint from the factory was always off. Once I had my rear bumper repainted when I did the 03-04 rear bumper swap and Nismo rear lip, the paint matched a whole lot better. My body shop did a great job.
