Need some help boys !!! wheel info....
This has probably come up alot but whats the widest tire size i can go with 18" HP evo wheels. i have them ordered but didnt get the tires i figured id buy them seperate cuz i wouldnt know what they would look like. but im hoping i can go as big as 270, 265/30/18 , any help would be great. thanks again. MJ
Did you get 18x8 all around or staggered with 18x8/18x9? With the 38 offset I would stick with 245/40/18 all around in 18x8 and maybe 255/40/18 in back if you got the staggered if its going on a sedan. There is somebody on here running 265/35/18 on the 18x9 rear on a sedan.

I really hope I'm reading this right, you really want to put 265's or 275's all the way around? I know 255's will work in the front, moving to 265 could possibly work with the right offset. What tire your going to be able to run will come down what what offset you've already ordered, what did you order for offset?
We've never seen a 9" wide rim run on the front of a sedan yet, not that I've ever seen.

thanks 4 the input, i was thinking about putting 18x9 all the way around but now that i think about it, im sticking with the 18x8's all around w/ the 245/40's . you guys think this will look "stocky" or kinda of wide from the back obviously not as much as the staggered wheel set up but i want to be able to rotate the wheels every now and then. know what i mean?
Are you going for looks, better acceleration/stopping or better handling?? This will determine how and what you want to do. Also what does cost matter to you (size and variability in choice)?
Looks... whatever turns you on (I wouldn't recommend anything wider than 245 up front)
accel/stopping... look for lighter wheels, sticky tires and just wide enough to match you power (without mods 245 is more than enough in back)
handling/ track... the G (especially the sedan) has a tendancy to let the back end out a staggered set up would help this... copy people who know (BMW M3 or similar) I think they have 225 in front and 255 in rear.. I think this is why this set up is so available (see tirerack). Tuners often go fo the bling factor more than performance this is why you will see tuner cars with 350 -450 hp and performance numbers well under what is expected (see Forced induction post I just put in about the R&T article on 3 FI and 1 NA 350Z).
Now your original question of how wide.. I have seen 295 on a Sedan with 255 up front. It work with no rubbing but they soon changed this set up.. it really isn't what you want to do even for bling factor. You can easily fit 265 or 275 in the rear but tire selection is low and costly. I would recommend the 225 / 255 staggered set up but I have no personal knowledge of how it would work... but I do wish I had the money to put them on.

I have staggered 18x8/18x9 EVO's on my ride and have 245/40 on the front. I've had no problems with them at all. I would absolutely not run 18x9's all the way around, it'll look weird.
Here's a pic of my front wheels with 245/40's on 18x8:

PS - I wouldn't recommend anything over 245's for the front, that's really pushing it. 225 and 235 are the optimal front tire size for the G35 (for looks and performance).
The back is a different story, but on an 18x8 I wouldn't really run anything past 245 anyways.
