I have the g stech's on my G and I only run into problems with speed bumps, drive ways and those gas station raised man hole covers. Not always but when I do it's not a pretty sound...

OMG do I bottom out???? ALL THE TIME and like dude said above it's not a pretty sound. Sounds like I broke something all the time. Tell ya the truth I hate it, I say F this I'm raising it up then I get out and look at it and I'm like " naaaaaa **** ;looks sick I need to go 1/4 inch lower and it's a wrap " lol I't the truth tho it's a terrible sound if ya want to look pretty gotta deal w/ it !!!!!!!! I on stance gr+ up 1 spring rate both front and rear. I'm getting ready to put the other springs on I have so I will then be 2 spring rates up in both the front and rear then I'm going to drop it a little bit more and be done with it. O yea and get a smaller tire F/R to so it will be more of a strech. Shitty pics cause you can't really see that good but it's all I have right now
.

Does it ever cause any visible damage? Or is it all just under the bumper?

With a lowered car you always run the risk of scraping things. No lowered car is immune to this. The lower you go though the more it could happen, so be sure to get the right suspension setup for your needs.
