I finally solved my hard starting issue!
I have a 2003 sedan and had this hard starting issue for over 6 months. Changed both camshaft and crank sensor, no fix. Used a whole lot of fuel injector cleaner and changed plugs, still no fix. Read about fuel pressure regulator not doing it's job correctly so I changed that too. No go. Most mechanics believe that when a fuel pump goes, you will know it so I never bothered. Guess what, I found an article online that said a pump can get worn and not hold the correct amount of pressure in the lines when the engine is turned off. The reason I believe my pump had premature wear was b/c I tend to drive and fill up when the empty fuel light goes on. NOT A GOOD THING TO DO. In tank filters need the gasoline surrounding it to keep it cool. No gas in tank means hot pump. I searched this site but was not able to fine definitive advise so I,m posting this for others who may have the same problem. It's been starting right up everyday, hot or cold. Hope this helps.I bought a Denso unit for $100 bucks and told my mechanic what I needed done. Problem solved. You can probably do it urself but I didn't have time to mess with it.
