Cool Forced Induction w/miles

Alright guys, I have an 06 Sedan 6MT and I have been looking at the Gt35r kit from Powerlab. Now heres the concern, i have just under 87k on miles. Should I rebuild my motor first then boost it. Could I boost it and run like 5 or 6 lbs. I already have intake, magnaflow exhaust, 5/16 plenum spacer, MREV 2. I am new to the Forum and kinda new to performance world as well. If I do boost it the car wont be driven everyday maybe just a few times a week. Appreciate the help gentlemen!!!

A compression test will give you the answer, but 87K isn't that high of mileage. Curious to know what your budget looks like for this project.

I plan on this project taking a couple of years, end result having a built motor as well as the turbo kit. With all the other goodies as well. I don't plan on dumping a bunch of cash right away. I am stil figuring stuff out. What should our compression be around with each cylinder.

My car had an STS rearmount turbo on the stock motor from about 97K miles until about 118K miles and it ran perfectly fine at (a low-spring pressure) rate of 4 pounds of boost. It's been about 5K miles since I removed the turbo kit (have a kid now and it was pretty loud, haha) and the car is still running like a top. I wouldn't worry about the mileage as much as whether it makes chronological and monetary sense to go ahead and build the motor prior to installing the turbo or not to you.

This is the answer.

Personally I'm in kind of the same boat. I have a bit low compression on the rear two cylinders but I'm going to ride it out a bit boost it low and keep an eye on it. In the meantime I'm looking for a donor engine I can build in prep for a swap.

As for the compression numbers, follow the test found in the FSM
