Free umbrella

Last week, I got to my dealer for my first service. When I bought my G35, I was treated like a king so I enter there like everybody was my friend, all shields down. Oh my, what a mistake!

I received by mail a survey and to thank me of answering it, Infiniti Canada gives me an umbrella. All I had to do is to give the dealer the paper when I go for my oil change and the dealer will give me the umbrella.

They refuse to give it to me. At first, my adviser asks me what's that several times. The first time I tell him that infiniti gives me an Umbrella but the at the fifth "What's that?", I begin to feel like an idiot.

So I waited for my car and after paying for the service, I ask again for my umbrella. He asked me : "What umbrella?". He acted like he doesn't know what I mean. So I insist but again, I begin to feel stupid to fight for a fu...ing umbrella. I saw him taking back the paper from the waste basket.

So they sent me the big boss of the service. He tells me that they were back order with the umbrella so they will send it to me by mail ASAP. I told him that on the paper it says that if the product is back order, the product will be replace by something else. No, no, no they want to send the umbrella to me by mail. BS! Of course, I will never receive it.

It's so stupid. I'm really please with my car. I didn't have a single rattle since I owned it and I was really stunned by the customer service and suddenly, all my trust is gone. If they do it for an umbrella, I don't dare imagine what they will do to my car to save money.

Re: Free umbrella

How difficult could it be for them to give you a keychain or a coffee mug and keep you happy? Sheesh.

Seems like sometimes there motto is: "Let's take a perfectly happy customer and **** him off!"

Re: Free umbrella

I'm sorry to say but this is one of the reasons Infiniti does not have as great a reputation as Lexus; their dealers do not consistently give their customers first class service. Is it any wonder the LS430 is outselling the Q45 many times over?

Infiniti needs to do something here to penalize their dealers for crappy service. Now I know it's different at every dealer, and poor service can be had even from Lexus, but I just hear about it more from Infiniti.

Isn't there some way drmerck can send this message to Infiniti? With very little editing, it can be sent almost verbatim.

Re: Free umbrella

Thank you all for your support. I was a little afraid to tell my story cause I didn't want to look like a spoiled child. After all it's just a fu...ing umbrella and it's no big deal. (I'm also happy to see that my english is not so bad and I can be understood. )

And yes, I wrote an e-mail to Infiniti Canada to tell them my story maybe four days ago. They didn't answer me yet but I write it in french (I live in Montreal and that's my primary language) and it's always longer to get an answer.

The thing I found the most ironic it's if Infiniti had never give me this umbrella, I would be perfectly happy by now. On second tought, no, I will never let them wash my car again. The job was so messy.

Re: Free umbrella

I agree with you folks, Infiniti's attitude toward the customer after the sale is inconsistant to terrible. I will not go to the local dealer (10 miles away) because of their attitude. Now I have to go to another dealer (50 miles away) because they ARE helpful. Unfortunately, they have not yet fixed the problem.

Infiniti's Customer Relations Service is no better. Sure I have been assigned a ticket number, but there has been no resolution.

I'll probably keep the G35 for some years as long as it is problem-free. However, as much as I would like to have a 350Z or G35 Coupe, I'll probably not buy another Nissan/Infiniti product unless their service attitude changes.

NISSAN/INFINITI, ARE YOU LISTENING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS???

Re: Free umbrella

There should be a difference in service between base and luxury nameplates.

You kinda expect to be treated as one of the herd at a Ford, Honda, Nissan, etc. But when you step up to Lincoln, Acura, or Infiniti, you expect a higher level of service. That's part of the premium we're paying for these vehicles. Unfortunately, not all dealerships provide this.

Re: Free umbrella

Hey drmerck, I too live in Montreal. So far I have been satisfied with my dealer (Meridien), so I would appreciate if you could name the dealer that provided you with such lousy service. I hope it's not the same one because I will certainly avoid this dealer. I must say that I also recieved a survey after purchasing my G35 (this was back in Sept) but there was no offer of a free umbrella attached to it. I certainly would have been pissed off though had there been such an offer and they did not deliver. I must also say though that six years ago before purchasing my Maxima, Nissan sent me an offer to test drive a Maxima and they would sent me a leather wrapped atlas/note pad. After the test drive the dealer stamped and signed the form which I mailed and the gift was delivered. I would suggest you call Infiniti Canada directly to report your disatisfaction, and keep us posted.

Re: Free umbrella

Hey Max,

Yes, it's Meridien. I get the highest level of service from my salesman, Jean-Claude Nakouz, a real nice gentleman. The same with the financial manager, Lisanne Gauthier. By the way those two treated me, I was expecting the highest level of costumer care from the service department. In fact, maybe they're good too but for sure they didn't want to give me the umbrella. And 60 dollars for an oil change, they better be good!

You're lucky they didn't wash your car... would have been one more thing to complain about.

Re: Free umbrella

I've always been quite happy with Ericksen Infiniti here in Edmonton. The only issue that I've had was convincing them I had the air-cond noise which they finally confirmed (parts on the way), and the clock issue which I'm still working on.
Otherwise, always treated well there and they do a great job on cleaning the car every time I bring it in. Always clean and dry with no swirl marks and the interior vacuumed and if I have the A/S floor mats in, they are pressure washed.
They gave me a great Roadside Emergency kit that I've seen sold elsewhere for about $75 and I had no problem getting my umbrella last year.

Re: Free umbrella

drmerck, I'm very surprised, but will be very weary about my future servicing at Meridien from now on. I don't know where you live, however I would suggest you try Spinelli on the west island or the laval infiniti dealer on St-Martin. I might just do that. Also $ 60 for an oil change is quite steep. When I went for the 6000 kilometer inspection I paid $ 39.99 ???

Re: Free umbrella

Hi Max!

I don't really live in Montreal. I live in St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu and when I bought the car, I was in Longueuil. I've just moved. So the nearest Infiniti dealer for me is located in Brossard. But I don't like the idea to give them business cause the first time I enter there the salesman didn't take me seriously. He refuses to let me testdrive the car! So I leave. But, I wanted so bad to buy from Brossard, I gave him a second chance. I told him, I was ready to buy now if he was ready to beat the price that Meridien gave me. He didn't believe the price I told him... $1000 below MSRP for an A/T Sedan premium and aero. I couldn't believe it. He refuses to beat it!!! It was in February, after the big buzz about the G.

The problem is : there's only four Infiniti dealers in the Montreal area and two are really too far from where I live. But if they don't intend to treat me like I deserve, I will go to Infiniti only for works under warranty. I will get service elsewhere.

For the oil change, I have the invoice in front of me and to be really precise, it costs me 49.95 for the oil change plus 7.50 of taxes for a great total of 57.45.
