2004 G35X - does a coupe mid pipe fit?

Does a coupe mid pipe fit on the X model sedan?

Also, why doesn't the normal G35 sedan exhaust fit on the G35X? What is so different?

I'm not an exhaust expert but I know a coupe mid pipe will fit because I have one on my x . The difference is the x has a transfer case so the y pipe might need to be bent to fit around the transfer case.

I had the same question. Other than the coupe midpipe, what other coupe exhaust fits on the g35x?

Your HKS muffler is for coupe or 04x specific? Btw how much louder than stock is it? Any droning?

So the muffler section is for any sedan regular g35 and g35x? And it's not one of those universal mufflers that need to cut and weld pipes?

Sort of.. I think the 05 and up have an hanger that you may or may not need. A good muffler shop shouldnt have any issues installing it. I wanted to go HKS, but the price is too scary for the gain... And the generic and megan racing stuff ruin the sound of a G IMO. If I wanted rice I would of bought a turbo civic. Mid-pipe and High Flow Cats, if you want more sound then investigate the muffler. I pretty sure the only gain you will actually see is a weight reduction.

Actually, I'm lookign for something to replace my stock midpipe and muffler, Mine LITERALLY rusted off. All that was left of the muffler section was the flange and the muffler hung on the hangers. unfortunately the G35x stock pipes are hard to come by used and I would rather replace with a stainless piece to prevent this from happening. And I figure add a little bit more sound over stock while i'm at it, probably loud enough to match the coupe OEM sound. I have an 04 btw.

The meagan system is cheap, I was really considering buying it until I heard a friends. It just didnt sound the way I wanted my G to sound. I liked that deeper tone the mid-pipe gave with the stock muffler. If you are on a budget you can pick up the megan, but with my high flow cats, I decided to go with the coupe mid and stock muffler. You can pick up a middy here in the want adds (thats how I got mine) and a muffler from a local yard for less than 300 total. Might be worth a shot...? If not, go with the megan, I see them on Ebay all day for 399 plus shipping. Hope this helps!

So just for clarification the HKS Sport axleback from say a 05 G35 sedan should fit a 04 G35X with everything else being stock?

There is no HKS for an 05, it's a universal muffler. For your 04 it's a direct bolt on, for the 05-06 guys they will need the 03-04 bracket for the muffler to fit correctly.

and Andyl the HKS does drone (I paired it with several y/midpipe combos), that's the reason I got rid of mine.

Hey Blue,

What muffler did you end up going with..? Got a coupe mid, HFC, and am looking for a new muffler. Looking for some weight reduction and better sound.. Thanks!
