What is a transfer case?
So I'm looking into getting the rest of the fluid work done that the previous owner did not do on a 30k maintenance run.
I understand there there are many different fluids that could be swapped like the:
Brake, Coolant, ATF, Rear Diff, Front Diff.
But while looking around the forums I saw that someone mentioned "transfer case fluid"
I'm not sure what this is...is it another name for the area where the ATF is held or is it a completely different component? Sorry if it's a dumb question...tried to Google it but found conflicting info.

A transfer case is a part of a four-wheel-drive system found in four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vehicles. The transfer case is connected to the transmission and also to the front and rear axles by means of drive shafts. It 'transfers' power to both differentials.
The fluids recommended by Amsoil (for example) are:
Transfer Case,......AF3 [4]
Synthetic Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATFQT)
Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid (ATD1G)
