"Boing" noise at 5-10mph after shifting from reverse?

*Almost* every time I back out of a parking space, shift to drive and go a few yards, I hear this weird "boing" noise coming from underneath the car that sounds like a spring came loose. Hard to describe noises, I know, but if you have heard if you'll know what I'm talking about.

2003.5 AT sedan... Any ideas what could be causing this?

It's the ABS self test. Nothing to worry about.

Not sure if I would describe the ABS self test as a 'boing' noise. more of a grinding/clicking noise.

A spring sounding noise could be a spring not correctly seated in the cradle and moving a little when changind directions.

Does it do it every time you reverse, then drive forward? or only the first time after you start the car?

Did you mean to link to pg 8 here? I can't see a post with the sound...

It does kinda sound like the youtube posted here though... the last bit where it sounds a bit like a "boing" echoes through the cabin a bit more than the first part i think. So it *could* be ABS self test, does the "clicking axle" sound only appear when first starting to drive, or when accelerating from a stop every time? because I only hear it when first starting to drive.

The click is a completely different noise than you're describing. I'm sure it's the ABS self test, I describe it as sounding like I ran over a grate. When you put your car in drive and reach about 10 MPH is when it will happen, if your foot's on the brake at that time, you'll feel the pedal vibrate. Great way to check to see if that's what you are experiencing.

Like the other said, the ABS test will only occur 'once' after you start the car, it occurs while driving forward (at about 10MPH like the others said), it doesn't occur again until you turn the car off and start again.

The axel click occurs every time you accelerate from stopped, and usually occurs as soon as you start moving.. it sounds more like a metalic 'click'

I just got my G a few weeks ago and I have heard this sound every morning after I reverse, turn, then drive forward. I was going to attach a recorder to the front of my car, but it seems like it is already a known noise. Thanks!
