2005 G sedan lower glovebox light

does anyone know if the light in the lower glovebox should turn off when you close the glovebox door? mine stays on. you can see the light is on when you look at the little bit of opening that is left when you close the door of the glovebox. is this normal?

Dude, I noticed this last night. I have a feeling it shouldn't turn off. I was driving so I didn't look to see if there was a switch, then I got home and forgot to look. I have a feeling it just turns on with the headlights. I kind of remember the same thing on my dad's 300z growing up.

Smile dealer explained to me the lights

okay. the glovebox lights come on in the 'auto' mode when the headlights come on. or they will be on with the headlights in the 'on' position. they do not shut off when the glovebox door is closed. at least now i know.

I initially thought something was wrong with mine when I first got the car. I didn't realize the headlights had to be on for the light to work.
