Hi, all -- just got the license plates for my G, bought used. Came without any license plate screws, so I was wondering if anyone here knew the size of the screws on the G? Eg. 1/2 inch, #14, etc.

Not sure, but they are a pretty standard size.

Try one from a friends car, and if it fits, go to home depot and buy a couple.

Or you could call/swing by the local dealer and ask them if they'd give you a few.

Infiniti is pretty cool in that way....

 

Thanks for taking the time. i called the dealer and they were already closed. I'd hoped to get the things tonite and get the darn plates installed. I've been driving around with an expired temporary dealer registration form in my window and don't want to get pulled over... I'll just wait till tomorrow eve and install then.

Best thing is to pull your license plate clips and take them to a hardware store. You can match up the exact screw size and you're good to go.

 

The stock license plate screws weren't long enough to hold a clear license plate cover and a license plate frame in addition to my plate. Places like Advance Auto Parts have allen key license plate bolts which are longer than stock. Just get the package that says "for imports".

 

Thanks, guys. I went to the local auto parts store and they did have what I needed. Interestingly enough, I called the local Infiniti dealer, and they gave me the wrong size. They were really cool and seemed quite knowledgeable, but insisted that the license plate bolts/screws were 8mm by 1.25 pitch. I thought at the time that 8mm seemed awfully big -- and was right, they were. The correct size for those who ever need to know is: 6mm by 1.25 pitch. Length varies depending on needs -- external plate holder, etc.

So, plates will be on soon enough.
