Is it only making this once? Our ABS system performs a sensor test each time the engine is turned on, it has to reach a certain speed and then it "unlocks" the wheels for testing just like if you would be braking on an icy road.

It makes this sound whether you touch the brakes or not. When you start your car and pull away it performs a test on the braking system. It happens every time you start the car and start driving.

It's the ABS self test.

If you time hitting the brake pedal at the exact same time as the ABS performs it's self test...that's your result.

My car does it all the time because upon exiting my driveway, at aparently the right speed, the ABS test activates just as i have to brake to take a left. I've felt the same feeling you get plenty of times when i time it right.

It's part of the ABS self-check that activates during each start-up when you start to drive away. Next time you start your car, drive off VERY easily with the windows up and radio off and increase speed gradually and you should hear a faint grinding, buzzing noise from under the hood. Might sound like a spring twanging. Thats the ABS self-test.

Now, if you hit the brakes at the same exact time, you'll hear a MUCH lounder spring twanging noise, and feel the pedal vibrate like the ABS is activated.

Not much you can do other than try not to hit the brake at the same time.

If the noise happens any time other than right after start up this is the best advice. And OP your posts are impossible to read, ever heard of spelling and punctuation?

If it's doing it all the time, that's a different issue.

ABS self check happens once on startup, and then that's it. So if it twangs each time you stop...mechanic time

Some silly answers, ABS self check, yeah, the guys posts are hard to read, but REALLY, come on guys

OP, the obvious question is when this happens, does the SLIP light come on in the dash? Or the ABS light?

I have a similar issue with my Maxima on slight initial brake application it does that, I think it's a sticking caliper, but I'm unsure, haven't had time to check.

If you have no SLIP or ABS lights coming on, then you need a complete brake inspection, making sure they check the calipers travel as well to ensure they're not seizing at one point.

It sounds kind of like what I hear if I hit my VDC kill switch in line with the yaw sensor when moving. If your getting the VDC, Slip and ABS light on when you hear it, I would guess a loose wire going to the yaw sensor under the center console.
