Remote Start Built In?
Figured a funny thing out today. This is probably old news, but my 06 X has remote start built in. Push "Lock/Unlock/Lock/Unlock"...I was pretty amazed.
I tried this because I found a post from someone with a 2010 or 2008 M35 that found he could do this by pushing "unlock" 4 times...
Only downside I can find so far:
1) I don't know how long the car will run.
2) If the lights are on "auto" they don't turn off.
Anyone else have any info on this??
Edit: Havn't tested it yet, but Im thinking the headlights might go off after 5 minutes...

Went to try it yesterday but before I get to it some bell rang in my head that car was in 1st gear, and it might not be a good idea to test it out right away XD
My bet is that previous owner had an aftermarket remote starter linked to the alarm/unlock module so a specific combination would start the car, will try it eventually just in case, might be cool to start the car remotely when it's -15C and lower

I wouldnt assume it would work the same on an MT car...

I have an 06 sedan AT. I had it for 6 months b4 I found out by accident that it had remote start. My brother in law as OCD so when he locks his doors he press his fey fob a few times to make sure it's locked, so one day he went to get something out my car and he locked it. When we went outside I would say 10 minutes later or so, my car was running and we was both like what the hell is going on. I asked him what he did he said he just pressed the lock button a couple of times. So I tried to duplicate the outcome and sure enough if you hit the lock button 3 times in a row it will start. Im not aware of any aftermarket alarm on my car. Happy to say I use it everyday I love having it especially on cold days. Hope this long story helps someone
No luck either on my 6MT, of course in most case you must have handbrake on and tranny in neutral. I shall try different combos, original owner was an INFINITI Rep according to the 2nd owner ...
I will chime in, it has to be an aftermarket item, NOTHING OEM is remote start, infact the JX is the first Infiniti to come with an optional remote start, I've seen aftermarkets installed so well that you can't tell, but I agree with everyone else, there's nothing Factory that would start the car remotely by pressing lock unlock lock unlock.... but it'd be nice

My thought process was that is was possibly embedded software that a dealer could activate at a later date, or the manufacturer could "release" at a later date...since it's just lines of code basically...kind of doing the work in advance so to speak.
