Oil Change Interval?

Just read a study that showed 3000 mile oil change intervals actually INCREASE engine component wear (http://web.archive.org/web/201010242...es/mobil1.html). What intervals do you guys go by?

I've always gone every 3k oil & filter change on every car I've owned... Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil, OEM filters on the g...

My miles are 90% highway at 55-60mph, so I use full synthetic and change every 6-7k.

I change my oil once a year with Penzoil Platinum and oem filters. That's about 5-6,000 kms per year. I'm retired and don't drive much. I ride my BlackBird many more kms than I drive my car. I use a Scott billet oil filter on the bike, good for 35 microns, and leave in on for one oil change cycle then take it off for the next. I ride about 20,000 kms per year. If we were hosted by TapTalk as well I would post up a pic or two, of my Bird, not my G. I know a few riders who change their oil every 3,000 kms which is a waste of time, money and oil, imo.

5k, 165k on mine original owner. The only thing I go overboard with is trans fluid drain and fill every other oil change.

I hear and see "Studies" on everything from oil changes to coffee consumption. One week it will be good to change oil/filter frequently and then you read another study where it isn't. I do my own thing and use the best oil (AMSOIL) & filters (WIX) I can buy. SLICK only has 45K miles on her clock after 8 years and I change oil about every 6 months. My only excuse is I have automotive OCD and I'm stickin with it....Gary

For me, I change oil every 3k on the G35. BMW made a huge mistake of using the 15k OCI.

they say synthetic is good for 6-7k but i went 5k and the oil (mobil1) looked pretty bad. so ill stay with mobil but ill go no more than 4.5k. something interesting, i bought a wix filter at O'reilleys and was surprised that g35 filter was $6 more than wix filters for other cars. whats that about? i wanna try purolator next. its a highly rated filter from what ive read.
anyway, i feel good about finally getting all my fluids changed out. power steering, tranny, diff.,brake, and motor.

3,000 miles Castrol GTX and Purolator filter which is about every 6 weeks. My oil never looks clean when it comes out so I'll stick with 3K no matter what the most recent studies say.

My O'Reilleys only charges $6= for the WIX filter #51356 I use in SLICK. Either some clerk is trying to boost his sales $ or they've made a mistake. Call O'Reilleys customer service and find out WTF going on but keep using the WIX filter, there's none better!

thnx gary. i asked him about the price difference and he couldnt give a satisfactory answer. im certain they dont make infinti filters with any special materials and its not any bigger than the rest. wtf! he had to get it from the back so apparently going to back to get the product ups the price considerably.
