Factory Maintenance Schedule...
Factory Maintenance Schedule...
Hello all,
I am just wondering what is the requirement when it comes to factory maintenance schedule in order for infiniti not to void your warranty? I know some of you guys do your own maintenance but is it a requirement to bring back for all the scheduled maintenance? 3,700 miles, 7,500 miles, 15,000 miles, etc? Or you can just bring it back to dealers from time to time so they have your car record in the system? I know some of the maintenance works are sillly, especially some you can do it yourself to save money (changing air filter, wiper blades, in cabin filter, etc). I mean how they charge for it? By items? I mean afterall I am not due for 1st oil change for another 2 months but I might need to bring car back to dealer because I suspect I might have one of those "gas tank" issue.
Thanks...

Call your dealer and discuss.
My dealer told me not to worry too much about the 'premium' scheduled maint. (i.e. the one that includes every check under the sun).
Said they will rec. the things that really need to be done.

The dealers can't say..."oh...your mechanic was the one at fault" we can't take care of your engine now.....crap like that"?

You pop the hood and find that the same dip$hit tech also forgot to replace the oil filler cap and oil has blown all over the motor and you need two quarts to bring it up to the middle of the dipstick. I have lost all confidence in the dealers service. For oil changes while under warranty I will take it to an oil change place and double check their work. after the warranty is up I will do it myself.

I just take mine to the dealer every 7500 miles and not worry about it. Much as I'd like to do the maintenance myself I just don't have the time. Plus it's nice to drive around in a loaner G for a day too

What Nissan/Infiniti is most concerned about is that your ride gets proper care, parts, and service.
If you do it yourself, be prepared to be able to prove what maintenance you did and when. I do my own (mostly) and find it convenient to keep a log book.
Check the scheduled maintenance in your owner's manual for items that need attention and when, and, as somebody suggested, talk to your dealer techs for advice too. They'll know the minimum necessary to maintain your warranty.
The easiest and most important of these items are all fluid levels and change intervals.

P.S. By the way, did you fix your gas tank problem yet?
i've used a logbook on my previous cars (GM for all 3) and have never been questioned by the service department. For fluid changes, I log the miles, type of fluid used and approximate amount added. I also keep track of when checks were made and how much if any was added to top off. A log book like that is more than ample evidence that you maintain the vehicle.
What's with you people?

I'll bet you guys cry the loudest when something goes wrong, too.
I do it myself and keep receilpts of the oil and filters I purchase. I keep a log on my PC and also the tabs from the filter box with the date , car and mileage. I also write the oil brand and viscosity on it.

I did a partial 7500 service at the infiniti dealer for about $100.
All my oil changes to date have been at a local Nissan dealership since 1 1/2 blocks is much easier for me that even the nearest Infiniti dealership, which is 100 miles away.
I just keep my receipts. I kept them all for my previous car too, and gave them to the person who bought the car from me.
I'm coming up to the 15000 service (13600 now), and I just have to decide what I will have them do, and what I'll consider doing myself. But I plan to ask how much they would charge to touchup my paint in one spot. I don't trust myself to do a good job
