Door Lock Help!

Door Lock Help!
Sold my 2004 G35 to my father a few years ago. Here is what happened yesterday..
Some A HOLE stuck a screwdriver or similar device in to the driver side keyhole & was able to turn it enough to force all the windows down. This happened in a parking lot of a high end area (Calabasas). Well, they stole all me dad's info including credit cards, cash & DL.
Now the windows want to roll down every time he turns off the engine. He took it to the dealer & they want $700 to replace the lock. They also have to order it so he needs a loaner.
Is this $700 outrageous or is that proper price? I begged him to take it to a locksmith but he is apprehensive as the dealer already spent time diagnosing the problem.
Heads up to everyone & don't leave anything in view as this seems like a pretty easy method for the thief. Anyone heard of this happening?

That is one crappy situation. You would think that you would need the chip in the key to be able to roll the windows down, but I guess not. I would try sticking a screwdriver in the keyhole and turning it back to try and get the windows to stay up when the car is turned off. I would also think that a locksmith could replace the key barrel for wayyyyyyyyyyy less than 700 bucks. The dealer is probably charging their obscene labor rate for taking the inner door skin off.

I talked to a locksmith & he said there is a sensor that would need replacing. He said he couldn't do it for less so we are stuck. My dad is an old guy & doesn't want to mess around so he is letting Miller handle this. I just wanted to warn others of the consequences when this method of burglary is done. HIDE YOUR STUFF!
