New '03 G35 owner - price paid
I picked up a 2003 G35 Sedan this weekend with 118k miles for $7300.00. It is pearl white with tan leather and is in awesome shape. I just wanted to know if that sounded like a good price and what I need to do first maintinence wise as I bought it from a dealer and have no service records. I know the oil has been changed so I guess the first thing to do would be to check the belts. Thanks for any input.

You could call an Infiniti dealership to see if they show any service history as well as if there are any open TSB's for it. Otherwise I'd plan on doing the following:
Belts
Fluids
- Trans/Gearbox (drain & fill)
- Power Steering (pump out method is EZ)
- Brake
- Coolant
- Differential
- The ever important Windshield Washer Fluid
Brake Pads
Air Filter
In Cabin Filter
Spark Plugs
A lot of it could be done on your own, depending on how handy you are and the tools you have available to you.
Belts
Fluids
- Trans/Gearbox (drain & fill)
- Power Steering (pump out method is EZ)
- Brake
- Coolant
- Differential
- The ever important Windshield Washer Fluid
Brake Pads
Air Filter
In Cabin Filter
Spark Plugs
A lot of it could be done on your own, depending on how handy you are and the tools you have available to you.

When I got my 06 coupe I changed the oil, plugs, gear and diff oil and it had 42k on it. Maybe overkill, but I knew for sure the start of my maintenance schedule. Luckily our VQ has a timing chain over a belt. As long as your serpentine belt looks good (no cracks, hardened or glazed) and isn't making noise it should be fine. 118k on a well maintained Nissan is really nothing to frown about and it sounds like a decent deal.
Maybe pop the air box open and take a look at the filter. They are cheap enough to replace. Maybe even throw in a K&N, but that is where modding begins.

Get that thing up on a lift soonish, have a peek. Plenty of garages will do that for free to quote you a job. Pay close attention to the lower control arms. It's pretty obvious when the bushings are torn, but they're deliberate junk. I just paid 6k for the same thing, but had to put 1400 into the suspension, brakes, lights etc... prior owner really buggered that up. Still, congrats man, if it's in decent condition that was a fair price.

I just got an 03 G5 5AT with only 50k miles on it. I paid $17k but it is in showroom condition and was checked one end to the other by a mechanic first who found it to be in pristine condition. It was more than the average for that year but since it is in such great condition it saved me from thousands in repairs.

You got hosed sorry to say. Even if your car is loaded NADA shows it's retail value at $13,000. I have a 2005 sedan with 112,000K miles and I have spent less than $500 on anything other than normal routine maintenance in the 4 years I have owned her. And no, I don't have any sort of extended warranty.
That is a ridiculous price even for an 05/06 that is high.

While some might say it to be difficult to compare my deal to yours given the difference in time, I would be comfortable in saying....you got fleeced. Hard.
