Did I just kill my engine?!

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted but I haven't really had much time. Anyway, I go to start my car last night. It was pretty cold but not outrageous. As soon as it starts it starts sputtering and shaking really bad. I turned it off immediately. Well, it hasn't started since. It turns over but will not start. No codes were thrown and when I hooked up my tester there doesn't appear to be anything wrong. The tester shows all the sensors working correctly and no stored codes. Is my engine done? It has 144K on the odo.

Does the engine crank and shut off or is it trying to crank?

No dash warnings and we assume you have gas and oil, you do don't you? Could be a gazillion different things not allowing your G not to start, have it towed to Nissan in the AM. They'll have it up and running soon!

Thanks for the replies. Its trying to crank but just won't start up. There are no dash lights and yes oil and gas are in the car. Ironically I just bought a Pathfinder so at least it waited for me to get another vehicle before dying. I'll keep y'all posted.

So you're saying when you turn the key and put it in "on" acc, there are no lights or dash lights? Anything dim while cranking?

Sorry for the confusion. When I put the key in and put it ACC, everything is normal. There's no dimming or anything so I don't think the battery is the issue. It's a deep cycle battery also.

My starter went out on my old 03. It would just click like a dead battery, but then lights would come on after I put it back in acc. If its cranking and trying to start then I wouldn't say it's your starter.
When was the last time you cleaned your maf or throttle body? Last spark plug change. Fuel pump/filter change?
Just a couple ideas. But I'm not there to hear it or anything.

144 on the odometer... HAH !

That car is just barely starting to see use.

+1 with Gary quit playing around take it to Nissan/Infiniti and you'll be back on the road or at least know what's the problem.

I ahd the exact same thing happen to my G two summers ago. I had it towed to the dealer and he said it fired rightup. The only thing that I could figure is that I always used the button on the door to lock/unlock. I locked it when it went on the flatbed truck. The dealer may have used the remote to unlock it. I've always wondered if it was some kind of security system built into the computer.
Try locking and unlocking with the remote.

Did you have new keys made? My GF had another key made, but it was never programmed and she switched hers and mine. Car did the same thing until I used the programed key again.

It's just mad at you because you bought a Pathfinder. It's giving you the silent treatment. My advice, hide the Pathfinder behind your house. No really, I have nothing to add that others haven't addressed.

Lock and unlock your car using the key fob with all doors closed, open the driver door put the key in to see if it will start then. Maybe the "anti-theft" has kicked in, sometimes my car does it
