149k miles on clutch
05 g35 sedan 6mt
149,000 miles on the original clutch. Some say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." but would dread the day I get stranded because the clutch finally gives.
1. You think I should just replace it or drive it to the ground?
2. If I'm not mistaken the clutch is most likely to start slipping and over time get worse rather than completely breaking down at once. Correct?

I am , 93k now . It runs fine and all but doesn't grip as good as it did when i purchased it . Going stage 2 since I may consider more mods
# 1 replace it and flywheel , just drive it easy , do the rear main seal while you are at it .
# yes they wear down and you car starts to not feel as peppy no more

Yeah, definitely not as peppy as when I got it brand new. Still shifts smoothly considering Los Angeles driving. Hope I'm not killing the tranny slowly by driving on the original clutch for so long...

I got 160 on the stock clutch, it's acting a little funny...not fully slipping but rumbling a little when getting on it on the highway. I want to drive it for like 100 more on the stock clutch but I think I should stop being g and change it, I think it would solve a lot of my vibration issues. From stop to 1st gear is kinda sloppy too..
I was looking into the rear main seal. How big of a job is that with the transmission down? I know the part is only like $30.

Please do yourself a favor and dont **** with the rear main oil seal. Just drop the car in 4th at 35mph and floor it. Does the RPM spike up but car does not seem to pull which indicates clutch is slipping or does it pull like normal when you hit the gas and rpm along with speed move in line. I would just replace with JWT clutch, flywheel new stainless line, pivot bolt and fresh fluid in clutch along with tranny. I repeat do not mess with the rear main oil seal and just do a straight forward clutch swap.

I know what you mean. 1st gear is sloppy, but rowing through the rest of the gears are smooth. Me too, need to just sack up and replace it, haha. Infiniti Montclair quoted me the same price for OEM. OEM vs aftermarket. I don't know. Read through all the info and still torn or which way to go. Depends on the goal right?

as faiz23 said, don't mess with it. None of the problems mentioned are caused by a worn out clutch. While you are driving in 4th gear or higher, mash the accelerator and if the rpms climb steadily with the speed then the clutch is fine. If the rpms climb without the speed increasing, then you need a new clutch.
