GPS Mount I made...

Not liking a GPS stuck to my windshield and always fumbling with a cord, and not having factory navigation I came up with this....thought I'd share. Parts are 1/16" laser cut aluminum, powder coated black. Hinge is also aluminum, rivets are color matched, and the attachment screws are black zinc with threads for cutting plastic...The Garmin is hardwired so I don't need to fumble with a cord. Unit is held on the mount with (2) velcro pads. Mount folds down into the storage bin when not in use...

Seeing that radio... Man, what were they thinking with the faux wood on the trim?

Anyway, Have you thought about a few thin rare-earth magnets attached to the back of the garmin for a cleaner mount?

He would have to have magnets on the mount and the garmin.

I was thinking magnets behind the aluminum and on the garmin, that way it'd always line up in the right spot and wouldn't slide at all.

Sry to be off topic but why does your key ring look like that? Never seen one like this!

It has the "Itelli-key" (I think its called)...the fob has an RF proximity chip (probbaly not the right way to describe it, but) I thought they all had it, but maybe it was an option (?)

Nice design, looks good! Location seems to take your vision pretty far from the road though...

That's where the factory navigation sits, not that far, really. Aftermarket radios with navigation that sit down by the shifter are much further from the view of the road.

Thank god mine doesn't have it... that thing is mighty ugly! It doesnt even look like it has the circular ring that lights up. Smh

On another note gps mount was pretty creative, its just too dark of a contrast i think from the rest of the panel. Maybe cutting it to exact size of the model or color matching the dash would make it more pleasing... just no more wood triming!

How did you hardwire the gps in? I want to do that too. I hate cords hanging out.

Used a kit from Ebay and ran it from a power/grnd by the kick panel up under the dash an thru a hole I made in the storage bin.
