Beluga Racing Y Pipe?
Beluga Racing Y Pipe?
I've been looking around for an HR Y pipe for my 04 5AT, and haven't come across one yet. I've looked into several of the aftermarket Y pipes, but the vast majority of them are 2.5" Inlet and 3" outlet - not exactly optimal for my 05/06 midpipe with a smaller diameter. My understanding is that the decreasing piping size from the Y pipe to the midpipe is a source of rasp in the exhaust note. To add to the mix - I'm currently running stock cats, but will be getting HFCs in the near future, hoping to install them at the same time as the Y pipe. The cats I'm looking at are 2.5" inlet/outlet.
I've run across a Y pipe on ebay that advertises 2.5" inlets and outlet, and I'm wondering if that would be a good alternative to the OEM HR Y to mate with the 05/06 middy and HFCs. The brand/seller is "Beluga-Racing" and I haven't seen that name so I'm wondering if it's just a cheap poorly made part. What do you guys think? Is the diameter issue that much of a concern from HFCs->Y-Pipe->05/06 Midpipe? Are there other alternatives that you'd reccomend? I'm all ears!

The beluga /bəˈluːɡə/ or European sturgeon (Huso huso) is a species of anadromous fish in the sturgeon family (Acipenseridae) of order Acipenseriformes. It is found primarily in the Caspian and Black Sea basins, and occasionally in the Adriatic Sea. Heavily fished for the female's valuable roe—known as beluga caviar— the beluga is a huge and late-maturing fish that can live for 118 years.[2] The species' numbers have been greatly reduced by overfishing and poaching, prompting many governments to enact restrictions on its trade. The most similar to the Huso huso beluga is the Huso dauricus kaluga, also referred to as the "river beluga".

Brought a Beluga Racing G37 y pipe that also worked for a G35. I was impress with the quality of the welds on the pipe as well as the material. Came with a 1 year warranty. Didn't install it myself since I tried removing the bolts that attach the old y pipe to the cats and couldn't get them off, so I brought it in. The muffler shop only charged me 80 bucks for the install. Asked them afterward how was the install and they said no problems.
Just picked on up locally (they are based in the Dallas area) for $169. Looks like a quality piece, came with all the necessary gaskets.
I know you don't get massive gains but got to start somewhere, right?
