Rear Fender Scratch.......Arghhhhhhh

Hi all,

Came home from work today and found this. ARGHHHHHHHH

I parked on the street this morning and there's a house right by where I parked which was under construction. Most likely it's some truck that scrapped my rear fender when they are loading or unloading. Some people just don't respect other's car. So I try buffing it with clay bar, scratch x, and put in some sealant and wax. That's the best I can do for now. Don't think I will repaint it because it's a big panel which stretches above the windows toward the front and will cost a lot. Since car is already 8.5 years old, I'll see what other things I can do. Perhaps wet sand it a little? Or have a body shop guy just repaint and blend in that area?

Sucks. That deff does not look like it will get fixed with a wet sand, probably make it look slightly better. Thats why I never park curb side. Hope your insurance covers it.

I do have full coverage but with $1000 deductible. At this point in time, I don't think I wan't to spend $1000 to get that fix out of my own pocket.

1k deductible is not worth it. I don't know about NY but over here in CA alot of shops will fix something like that for 200-400 so if you want it fixed I'd suggest calling around or better yet get in touch with somebody you know who has connections in the auto body biz.

I feel your pain. Had my 2005 G35x for one week, before a shingle blew off the neighbours roof onto my front right fender...talk about depressing.....not as bad as yours but I feel the pain.

Sorry to see what happened to your car.

Over here deep scratches turn into rusting real fast so id suggest touch up paint pens buy two of them since you have a big area thats affected.
Its not a permanent fix but it will look better than what you have going there.

Don't use clay bar. That won't help you at all. Try rubbing compound then wash it then wax then just a good buff I guess. Good luck.
