Oil leak at high rpm
Oil leak at high rpm
Im a noob on this forum, tbh I dont even know how they work or where to post but Im hoping someone can help.
I have a 05 G sedan (non rev-up) with 70,000 ive been using RP synthetic 5-30 since day 1 with no issues. Recently I noticed there are little Dime size oil spots under the car after hard driving. While on the highway driving hard and at around 5500rpm if I go WOT I see smoke coming from the engine bay. (only over 80 miles an hour) It stops at lower rpm or normal driving. I know its oil but is it coming from the valve cover gasket? dripping onto the manifold?
Maybe someone has experienced the same problem?

Welcome to G35 Driver!
Let's begin with the obvious, is your dip stick pushed all the way in? What oil you use has zero to do with an oil leak. (fyi) If your dip stick was pushed in all the way you should take your car to the Nissan dealership, they charge 30% less than Infiniti. With 70K miles on her clock also check your PVC valve and the rubber line that attaches to it. That's on the passenger side, if it's defective will cause oil leaks in other areas....Gary
So have you tried to look for the leak under the hood?
Go for a hard drive, come back and park the engine area over some cardboard. Get a large sheet so you can get a wheel on it to hold it down. Use a marker and mark various reference points. The engine undertray may hinder your search so you might want to remove it during this.
Let the oil drip and use the cardboard to help pinpoint where the leak is exactly. Front of engine, rear of engine, which side? Filter? Oil plug? etc.
Have you pulled the spark plugs and looked for oil pooling there?
Are you checking the oil level? How much do you need to add?
For it to smoke, it more than likely is hitting the exhaust and burning off. You should see residue on the exhaust where it is hitting.
